We had the 2016 Vintage on 6/23-24/22. This is a real good Sonoma PN. There were tastes of red current, pomegranate and cranberry. There is a brambly minerality as well. Over the last 18 mo., the tannins smoothed out nicely. A nice mouth feel and finish. — 5 days ago
Popped too young, but I just wanted to open it, dammit. Classic fairly old-school Zin nose, with brambly blackberry, a bit of American oak, and stony gravel. Fairly tight in the mouth. I love the focused fruit, which is not jammy in the least. It’s very dry (which is almost jarring these days of jammy Zins with residual sugar), and it’s got some youthfully drying tannins. Needs, and will be better in, at least 2-3 years, but enjoyable now. — 10 days ago
Recently picked up at Renegade Wine in Santa Barbara. A touch cloudy with a dark garnet red. A bit of stewed fruit on the nose, followed up by earthiness and a hint of baking spices. Medium body with medium minus tannins (4/10). Similar notes on the palate and smooth rounded finish. Drink now. — 16 days ago
Sentinel Cabernet Sauvignon is named for the shield-shaped block that casts a watchful eye on the entrance to Monte Rosso Vineyard. Deep Ruby with aromas of rich dark fruit, cedar and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry and currants with vanilla oak and toasty nutty notes. Fine soft tannins, well balanced with acidity, long finish ending with berry fruit, cacao and toasty vanilla oak. Nice! — 8 days ago
OG California Field Blend Goodness… inky black with waves of Ripe blackberry bramble, cherry, and a touch of smoke. I fell in love with these hyperbolic field blends 30 years ago. Rice, ripe, smooth, with s hint of green stem and leafy forest flooor. I forgot just how these wines scratch my zin/oak/mid-weight itch. I am making my response to find more… — 13 days ago
Took a little while to open up but after all it is a PS. Still going strong after 17 years. Tannins and fruits still balanced. Impressive — 21 hours ago
"Odedi"
Yellow in color with a golden hue.
Nice nose of citrus, cedar, toast, vanilla, spices, golden apples and white pepper.
Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with oak, vanilla, citrus, apples, light pineapple, pears and light earth.
Tangy finish with limes and black pepper.
This is a tasty Chardonnay from Sonoma Coast. Refreshing and easy to drink. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.
Needs 15 minutes of airtime to remove some of the vanilla notes, and balance itself out.
Alcohol is well integrated, so you better watch out.
Good by itself or with food, and will be nice to revisit it in a couple of years.
100% Chardonnay grapes were aged in mostly French oak barrels for 6 months on their lees.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
