Les Rascasses Santa Ynez Valley Rosé Blend 2017

After having this a few times in the past month, I can confidently say this is my current favorite domestic Rosé. The price is right and it delivers a lot of pleasure each time. It can also age. This is the 2017 in magnum and it was singing after being open about an hour. — 2 days ago

Bien Nacido Hillside Estate Syrah 2011

From magnum. 1st day was all about high toned red fruit, herb, secondary characteristics. Now the plum and berry are emerging on day 2 and I’m enjoying it much more. Has more life in it. 13% alcohol. Vinous 92. — 3 days ago

@Jason and Jennie Qupé founder Bob Lundquist sold the winery in 2018 and is doing his thing now under the Verdad & Lindquist Family Wines name in the same area. Haven’t had any of the recent Qupé wines and only 4-5 of Bob’s newer wines since the sale.

@ Jason and Jennie If you liked that Qupé Syrah, I’d check out Ojai Vineyards Syrahs for more Syrah goodness.

Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah 2018

This was a big wine. Deep, dark, cooked black and blue fruit, smoke, ash, very subtle meatiness, and no shortage of oak. Long, spicy, explosive finish. Substantial, chewy tannins that would benefit from more time in the bottle... would have been a bit much without the steaks. Nice bottle though. — 21 days ago

Cinematique Larner Vineyard Syrah 2018

So juicy and like velvet on the palate. The nose does not overpower but still makes an impact. Needed to decant at all! — 23 days ago

Rosé of syrah and petite sirah. Tart red fruit and candied lemon aromas and flavors, a bigger richer body and lingering minerals — 15 days ago

This tasty red reminds me of our family trip to the area and the amazing wines we shared! In particular, this Syrah is very fruit forward with tart blackberry and a bit of pepper. Doesn’t blow me away, but still quite delicious #hopvwineclub #houseofpurevin #detroit — 9 days ago

La Sangre de Jonata Ballard Canyon Syrah

After an hour decant, notes of hoisin, grilled meats and framboise. Color is a beautiful dark ruby red. Palate explodes with cocoa, plum and blackberry. Finish is fairly long with a little bell pepper, milk chocolate (?) and black tea. Definitely in a great place to drink now. — 18 days ago
