Luvaira Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore 2023

Haven’t had rossese in a bit so decided to give this a try. Not bad at all, but also not that distinctive. Not giving nearly as much as I recall from previous bottlings from the same producer. Bit one note. — 23 days ago

OpenTuesdaywines.com Really enjoyed this. Young energy, so it overpowered slow roasted chicken, but shined separately with racy acidity and delicate fruit. — 5 months ago

Rosserto Langhe Rossese Bianco 2022

I’ve never had Rossese Bianco and as a fan of Rossese (red), it’s exciting to try this (from Piemonte, surprisingly). Nose is quite herbal with a little note of raw almond. Slight note of stone fruit pits. Crisp and cleansing and refreshing in the mouth (as are many of its red siblings). Nice intensity and balance. This would be a very nice summer antipasto accompaniment. Thanks to my brother Angelo for spying and snagging this for me! — 13 days ago

Posaú Dolceacqua Rossese 2020

Nice rossese. Like a fleshier more peppery Italian style Beaujolais. With a bit of chill an excellent pairing with some chicken thighs cooked with shawarma seasonings. Acid maybe slightly lacking on the finish, but still nice. — 2 years ago

Riviera Ligure di Ponente Rossese 2023

The “Nebbiolo of Liguria” as the locals refer to it. Light and aromatic with a floral nose and a juicy palate of pomegranate seeds. Serve with a chill and pair with charred octopus. — a month ago

Gotta open a Ligurian red with a bowl of fresh garden pesto pasta. Fresh red fruit, grapefruit rind, and crushed rocks. Fresh, zingy, pretty good flavor intensity, great acids. Summertime! — 4 months ago

Rossese di Dolceacqua 2020

Prior notes from 6 months ago still seem accurate. Thanks to my brother for this delicious lighter red. It’s almost as though making a lighter, food-friendly, warm-weather friendly red is becoming a lost art. They won’t get the high critic points, but there are so many circumstances where this is what works, but so few choices in this category. — 6 months ago

I do feel rossese in particular is a bit under appreciated. I feel it had its moment on nyc wine lists 4-5 years ago and has faded since then.
