From the Bellaria vineyard known to have really old Friulano and Merlot vines; some over 100 years old and own rooted. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2022 “Buri Bellaria” Friulano pours a straw color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe orchard fruit: peach cup, grapefruit, Meyer lemon, tarragon, and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, and savory with lovely minerals. Alcohol is high but balanced. A beautiful, refined Friulano with loads of character. Drink now through 2032. — a year ago

Popped and poured. The 2020 Chardonnay “Ronco Basso” is quite compelling. I found that the fruit presented more round on the nose than it is on the palate, which showed a bright mix of tropical and citrus fruits with really lovely acid and fantastic minerality. The finish was long and full of energy. One of the more exciting Chardonnays I’ve had in a while. Drink now but will drink well for at least 10 years. — 3 years ago
2022/6/8-10 with scallop crudo, homemade fresh tagliolini al Portonat, frico, etc. A nice mix of more “typical”, bright Sauvignon Blanc citrus and herbs with richer, stone fruit notes. Strong minerality, sneaky richness and plenty of acidity ensure a strong structure, and subtle depth keeps one coming back. — 4 years ago
This clear yellow wine pours up very slightly frizzante, with a small collection of tiny bubbles clinging to the glass. On the nose there is a sweet apricot aroma mixed with a delicate blend of herbs and minerals. Those minerals drive the palate, which is exquisitely citrus. The acidity comes on strong, then softens through the sip into a gentle tingle. It is an elegant white wine, offering a perfect balance of herbal notes, earthiness and freshness. — 5 years ago

Amazing! Fruity and smooth — 2 years ago
Some of us, being Nebbiolo supplicants, love Ghemme for its paradoxical meaty, bloody, yet light qualities. This has it in spades, on the edge of cherry cough syrup but never quite there. The woods, especially on the nose. This wine would benefit from a large glass.
It’s a bit of a sneaky, under the radar winery, hopefully for a bit still.
Lots of cherries, loam, dirt, blood, stoniness. Delicious. A ‘17 feels just about right. — 2 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several days and consistent throughout. The 2022 Sauvignon pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing and bursting with electricity! Powerful notes of stone fruits, grapefruit, fresh sliced jalapeño, verbena, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acidity. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+, substantial and refreshing. Lovely with northern Italian soft rind cheese. Drink now. — 2 years ago
The 2019 Schioppettino is remarkably pretty and floral, with violets and roses complementing its wild red berries and hints of smoke. This is soft-textured and lifted in feel, yet also packed full of fleshy raspberry fruit, as exotic spices build within. It leaves a tinge of sour citrus while finishing lightly structured and with a staining like liquid lavender. Lovers of Schioppettino will fall head over heels for the 2019. Great wine even though it didn’t hold up to my memories of former vintages, maybe because it’s a rare wine in its class that’s both excellent but drinks better young. It shed its primary character and left behind some ginger, vegetal tomato leaf and a silky texture with a long finish, driven by very prominent phenolic bitterness. Drinks like an austere high-quality white Bordeaux without the oak, but I miss the vibrant fruitiness and stronger Italian quality I get in its youth — 6 months ago
