Gorgeous and very stoney nose. Like crushed limestone and the smoke from it being pulverized. Deep black and red cherry. Smells like a place. A place I want to be. Juicy and so energetic with glorious fruit and unreal energy and internal architecture. Unreal balance and so pure. What a wine and what a vintage for the kid. So juicy and brilliant tiny berry fruit intensity and such explosiveness. Long finish with velvety tannins and insane sweetness. So good. — 9 months ago

Love this site. What a nose. Deep and enveloping, with dark cherry fruit and some blackberry and unreal herbs, stones and complexity. An off the charts confectionary sweetness. Wow what a palate. Velvety and so sweet with stunning purity and depth. Insane freshness and elite finesse. Stunningly delicious and so complete. Wow the acidity is off the charts and complex fruit and sweet, velvety tannin is out of this world. The nose is so pungent and high toned yet deep and layered. After 7 hours this is gorgeous. Deeply fruited, juicy and so dense but has grace and fantastic, ripe and high quality tannin. Really meaty finish. — 10 months ago

What a nose. Just singing. Red cherries, florals, such lift and brightness. Mind-blowing. Super confectionery. Palate is a delight. Superb sappy fruit and tremendous lift and sweetness. Gorgeous freshness and cut. Love that rustic edge Maranges has but with sweet, ripe tannins and just gorgeous sour/sweet cherry fruit. This is what Burgundy does better than anybody in the world. Inexpensive Pinot with profound character. Great texture and energy. Just brilliant. Let’s see what air does. Sappy cranberry bog and wonderful depth now after 4 hours open. Elegant, sweet and tangy. Real class for a Maranges. Really juicy and engaging. Great nose on day 2. Bright, cherries, some sour cherries and such limestone lift. Florals and spice as well. Terrific sweetness and energy. Nose is classic with green apple skins, some phyllo dough, spice and nice minerals. Uncomplicated but gorgeous in its effect. Palate is juicy and plump. Good freshness and texture. Very red fruited nose. Early season cherry, loads of limestone, some smashed violets and really high toned. Palate is juicy with high acid and nice red fruits. A bit terse now but let’s see what air does. Juicy and early season and sour cherries and very very fresh. I like it but it’s not a “crowd pleaser.” I take my words back. Air has done its work. The nose is gorgeous. Big cherries, sour, early season and some mid season with a huge helping of wet earth and rocky limestone. High toned and bright. Palate is gorgeous with sweet/sour early to mid season cherry and some gorgeous texture. Very high acid and real texture. This is everything one wants out of an everyday burgundy. It does need air but it’s worth the wait. Really elegant and terrific linearity and precision. Very fresh and energetic. — a year ago

In a glorious place. So elegant. More to come. Wet earth and deep red cherries on the nose on a background slab of minerals. Complex spice as well. Palate is so juicy and generous. Luscious, deep fruit with suave, velvety tannins and unreal density without weight. Such a mineral finish. Always the woodiest as this is usually 100% new wood but it’s so well integrated at this stage and yes this aged so well. Had a 98 in summer 23 that was stunning. Nose has cocoa, vanilla, wild red cherry, spice and minerals. Needs to integrate but it’s all there. Gorgeous aromatic depth. Palate is woody and so silky with gorgeous, decadent red cherry fruit and terrific freshness. So pure and yet another brilliant William wine from 2023. So velvety and the tannins are so suave. Gorgeously red fruited and boisterous nose. Red cherries all the way. Stunning stony aromas as well and unreal lift. Lots of red cherry skin as well. Terrific energy and chord progression fruit as well. Juicy, complex and very energetic and appears wide open at first but let’s see where air takes it. Wondeful acidify and freshness and lovely sour cherry fruit. Really fine and velvety tannins and I can’t believe how red fruited it is. Sweet and ripe tannins. Terrific inner mouth aromas with air and insane sweetness. A winner! Now with 7 hours of air it’s so stoney and classically Pommard. Palate is ample and juicy and super mineral with tangy red fruits. But man is this mineral. Like licking stones. — 10 months ago

I adore this bottling and my goodness did William kill 23. Gorgeous nose of wet earth, peppermint, soppy red and sour cherries, and my goodness like 4D limestone. William has arrived. This is a 9.6 nose. Pre tariffs and weak dollar this was $41!! My goodness this nose is legend. Just stunning. Juicy and so pure. Unreal balance and tangy red fruits and brilliantly framed oak. So pure. Unreal elegance. Just tremendous. Such crunch and energy. What a beauty. Such freshness. Let’s see what air does but this is a 9.5. The nose got insane with air. What a nose. One of my favorite sites and also one of the rarest in Pommard. Nose is red licorice, mid season cherries, watermelon jolly rancher, some citrus lift (blood orange, tangerine) and gorgeous stones. But also a Crabtree & Evelyn thing going on. Really beautiful. 9.7 nose. I am very impressed. Ok, this is stunning. It’s masterfully elegant and my god this is a mineral bomb. There’s glorious fruit but this is so mineral forward that it’s just insane. My god I love fucking Burgundy. Those Pommard late breaking tannins are just insane. What class. The nose is spellbinding. Unreal density and concentration and insane sap, purity and depth. The licorice also echoes on the palate. Wow. Genius. OK this wine is a problem. What a freakishly insane nose. The confectionary aromas are just insane. It’s just so complete. Superb freshness and energy. This true genius. Let’s see how it airs if I don’t drink it all. It’s such a Lyle wine. My god! Day 2 this is killing it. It’s maybe the most mineral wine I have ever had from William. It’s so elegant and just amazing. I truly love this site and am so happy I can offer it. — a year ago

This is the best wine William has ever made. I am blown away. Holy shit this is a new level for “The Kid.” Outrageous nose of late season red and black cherry fruit but what really stands out here is the absolute clarity. Wow it smells like God’s jelly donut. Unreal 9.8 almost a 9.9 nose. I am not joking. The depth and purity of the aromas is off the charts. Under all that fruit is stones. Those Pommars stones. Like a Pommard rolling stone. Wow. Just sick. There’s spice and herbals. My goodness this is elite. This is just incredible work. The palate is just a knockout. The ultimate power without weight but also with the ultra concentrated tiny berry intensity that comes from the best grapes on the best bunches on the best vines. Just incredible. Elegance and just incredible power and never never heavy. The tannins are ripe and fierce. Chewy and dense. It’s early but this is ridiculous. 9.7 for now. But it will go up. Killer nose of sweet meyer lemon flesh, some lemon zest, gorgeous minerals and white flowers. Very pretty. Wonderful palate with exquisite freshness, purity and flavors of green apple and juuuust ripe pear. Really nice texture like icing on a cake. So clean and juicy. Wonderful chewiness and an almost tannic finish. So well made and just delicious. Delightful and deceptively long. There is wonderful, dash of “salt-like” sweet oak on the nose that is just brilliant. This smells like a scene in nature. Just stunning. This does what it set out to do perfectly. Such a brilliant wine and it never gets old how good and how inexpensive this is. Nose is all black, red and sour cherries and super ebullient. Just amazing fruit and even some blackberry and blackberry flower. In your face fruit like this level should be. Haunting and elegant and this is giving Volnay like no other version. The nose is a 9.5. Wow!! The palate is a fruit nuke. But it’s also got energy and edge. Great acidity and minerals along side the plump fruit. Really balanced and so pure and just beautiful. Licorice on the finish and I can only expect it to open more. This is so lush and decadent on day 2. What a wine. A highlight of the vintage. — 10 months ago

I adore this site. The texture is always on point. Restrained opulence is the calling card here. Nose is super complex and stoney out of the gates. Really a mess of limestone and some fresh hermes Then the intense ripe cherry leaks through. Black cherry, red cherry, sour cherry all at once. Nuclear levels of spice, stone and even some mulberry. Superb balance and energy with compelling sweetness and stoniness. Lush, plush texture that will get even more lush and plus with air. Very seductive. Oh man the tiny berry fruit intensity is off the charts. Juicy and so sweet but backed up by insane energy and stoniness. Opening by the minute. This is one of my favorite Lieu-Dit Pommards from Rebourgeon. That nose of kinked out Pommard fruit, super stones always delivers. The lift, the purity, the confectionary aromas. The precision in William’s 23 is just incredible. What a palate! Sweet fruit, oodles of stones, cherry liqueur, such freshness, finesse and precision. Really balanced and just such high quality winemaking. Juicy, tangy, succulent. Nose is like Burgundy goes to the carnival with this kinky, cotton candy confectionery that is off the charts. I have always believed in William and in 2023 he has made the leap. What a brilliant wine. Firm, stoney tannins. — a year ago

Stunning. What an insane nose. Candied mid to late season cherries, insane spice and that classic stoney Pommard minerality. Unreal concentration but never heavy and so much depth. Waves of fruit crashing on limestone rocks. This is very very exciting wine. Only 595 bottles. Welp! Nose also has some super detailed sweet cocoa and just top top clarity. Wow that palate, those late breaking Pommard tannins and exquisitely formed fruit. This is something else. Let’s see how it performs with air. 9.6 now. Now the next day after 14+ hours open this is singing. Nose has a deep cherry perfume and wonderful spice and brooding Pommard minerals. Terrific aromatic complexity. Palate is just lights out with freshness, deep mid to late season cherry and also some early season as well. Brooding but suave stony Pommard minerality and gorgeous complexity and depth. Exquisite juiciness and balance. Long finish and so well made. Lingers forever. — a year ago

Love me a good St-Romain. Nose is sweet lime and lime zest. Very high toned. Some nice ripeness as well with peach and tangerine. Also some sweet red grapefruit. Outrageous nose. 9.5? What a palate. Bright! Great acidity and citric depth. Grapefruit, sweet meyer lemon, so sappy and the purity on these Rebourgeon whites is remarkable. Round as well with a lovely hit of mid-palate opulence. White flowers as well appear on the nose. Terrific focus and wow the citrus, lean citrus to be clear is just a showstopper. Brilliant stuff. — a year ago
