Very nice magnum, slightly toasted and nutty notes but barely, rich and full palate, still good enough acidity, some salinity as well, nice balance, gorgeous. This domaine did real well with the 205’s.
Magnifique magnum, des notes un peu fumés et noisettés très légèrement, riche et gras avec une belle acidité qui donne de la structure et de l’équilibre. 90-91 — 3 years ago
2020 fall. Similar to other recent bottles. Really nice wine for a fair price - I’ll be looking for some more — 4 years ago
A medium purple with thin edges. From minute one, it’s all dark red fruit everywhere you look. Cherries and pomegranates are dominant at first but then you get a nice wallop of dried strawberries. Of course there’s an earthy element to the nose with dust and green shrubbery. You get a bit of lovely olive just as a bonus.
Oregon Pinot is probably my first real wine love and I can never ever forget her. Still so sexy, down to earth, and lovable. Wifey material. Soft and smooth with some really pleasing acidity and structure. Medium bodied with a nice mix of Pinot elegance and rusticity. Rhubarb, cherries, and strawberry on the palate with more earth and pepper. Terrific stuff. An absolute steal of a wine. — 2 years ago
Very nice Chilean Cab Sauv, nice and chewy, does need to breathe for a while — 5 years ago
Nice drinking wine - good tannins but smooth. Robust but not overwhelming. Lights oak. — 3 years ago
Hints of cigar box but mostly strong cherry on the nose. Needed an hour to smooth out and open up, but then real nice. Grippy tannins, red fruit, tea, acidity. Curious to try with different food and a bit more bottle time. — 4 years ago
One of my favorite small production wine, 300 cases. Cal Nicholson spent his youth in So. CA & after a long marketing career he hung up his spurs to follow his 2 real interests in life – surfing & wine making. Jones is the maiden name of Cal’s wife Pam. A wonderful wine. Aromas of lemon citrus with herb, stone & tropical fruits. Palate, peach, Granny Smith apple & ripe melon flavors with lively citrus zest wrapped in lbalanced acidity. Lingering finish ending with mineral citrus finish. Consistent! Nice! — 5 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Bright Ruby red with aromas of fresh red fruits with sweet spice notes, aged for 10 months in French oak. On the palate flavors of cherry and red plum with vanilla, oak and cacao notes. Fine tannins, long finish, ending with fruit, oak, pepper earthy character. Nice value! — 2 months ago
