Akasha Willow Creek District Syrah 2012

Parkers review,

Wine Advocate | Rating: 96
The 2012 Akasha (which I had incorrectly listed as James Berry Vineyard in the past) is 100% Syrah from Scott's estate Torrin Vineyard. It offers sensational purity and depth in its black raspberry and cassis fruits, graphite, dried violets and crushed rock bouquet. This gives way to a full-bodied, voluptuous and seamless Syrah that has no hard edges, building tannin and a blockbuster finish. It's a heavenly Paso Robles Syrah that needs a year or so

Glass-staining purple. Powerful, deeply pitched aromas of blackcurrant, violet, licorice and woodsmoke, with a peppery topnote and a hint of sassafras. Sweet, smoky and broad on the palate, offering intense black and blue fruit flavors and a suave floral pastille flourish; showing a lot of upfront, fruit-driven sex appeal and no rough edges. Finishes very long, with outstanding clarity and supple tannins. - Josh Raynolds

Akasha Torrin Vineyard Syrah Grenache

2018 opened Nov 2021. This vintage is 100% Syrah with no Grenache in the blend. All the Torrin wines have fantastic noses—This one has Roses, ripe cherries, and a hint of lavender as it’s scents. Brief hint Strawberry jam on the front. Soft tannins with some a pleasant astringency on mid-palate to offset the softness of the front tannins. Medium finish with a refreshing hint of mint. This is the most complex 100% Syrah I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely lovely! — 3 days ago

Cuvée Les Demoiselles Paso Robles Mourvedre Blend 2018

Good but a little overpriced,

The 2018 Cuvée Les Demoiselles is a blend of 62% Mourvèdre, 28% Syrah and 10% Grenache aged in 36% new French oak. Winemaker Stephan Asseo says that the Mourvèdre vines are more than 20 years old now and that he has started picking it a bit riper than he used to.

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Color of purple, quite clear and nice legs. Nose of cocoa, leather, cherry jam, a bit sour grapefruit, with a touch of oak tone. Taste of strawberry syrup, and some seaweed indeed, grassy and minty, soft tannins and slightly sweet. Second sip shows some more ripe grape, black tea, and a bit peppery note. Aftertaste is medium long with smooth sweetness. Quite clean. On par. — 16 days ago

San Simeon

Estate Reserve Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

This wine is very dark in the glass. It features a beautiful nose of brambly cassis, mocha and chocolate notes. Minerals come into play as do sage and thyme. The palate is loaded with dark fruit, more minerals and sweet oak flavors. Tannins are alive and well, so a bit of time opening up in the glass is recommended. — 16 days ago

Tablas Creek Vineyard

Paso Robles Grenache 2018

Light brick in the glass… shockingly light in color, aroma, mouth-feel and finish… BUT the perfect lively acidity makes for a very pleasant dinner partner. Not a hint of jammyness…varietally correct? Who knows, but memorable comfort food match w/home, seared farm burgers, fried potatoes and onions, and late harvested beets with honey snd citrus zest. — 16 days ago
