Exceptionally rich yet nervy, Lohsa 2013 Morellino di Scansano is certainly cut along the local Sangiovese lines of this DOCG but this is cut of a finer woolen and fragrant cloth true to the Poliziano house whose handsome strength comes through in savory spiced cherries and al dente tannins. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Prugnolo Gentile Blend 2016

Decanted for 2 hours. Extreme tannins before decant, great balance structure wise after the decant. Not usually a fan of Italian wines due to being over tart. But really enjoying the subdued tartness on this one. On the nose: tart cherry, herbs, graphite minerality. On the tongue: tart cherry, strawberry, graphite, herbs, hint of black fruit. Acidity is high! Super enjoyable with a simple red pasta dish. — 4 months ago
