Pequeñas Bodegas De Levante

Bodegas Escorihuela Gascón

Pequeñas Producciones Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Great wine. Structured and complex but not jammy (different style from typical California cabs), floral and interesting nose. Oak, cigar box, red fruit. — 3 months ago

Cimarossa

Riva di Ponente Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

My favorite Howell Mountain producer. Bar none. Several can make very good cabernet. But even fewer can do it year by year. I can name about 7 or 8, but this one is always first. Winemaker Mia Klein does a great job with these grapes that are estate produced. Powerful blackberry fruit core and hint of vanilla. Herb, black pepper, hint of nutmeg and allspice. Great finish....quite tannic and still ridiculously young. This hails from the ponente vineyard, which gets the hotter afternoon sun. Therefore these wines are always a little more powerful when taste it alongside their Levante counterparts. — 3 years ago

Cimarossa

Riva Di Levante Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

I opened a ‘14 Cimarossa Ponente for Weston to get a feel for their style at a young age and while it was shockingly soft, open and showing plenty of fruit, Mark wanted to compare how an older Levante would show. The more I have these wines, the more I think Ponente (for my taste) can be enjoyed younger while Levante & Rian need more age to shine. This ‘07 Levante was fantastic. Nose of black cherry pie, blackberries and roasted plum. Powerful on the palate revealing red clay, blue and black fruit, but more dominant to the dark fruit side. Mocha, dark cocoa and vanilla pipe tobacco too. Don’t think it’s getting any better! — 9 months ago
