Contrada R Terre Siciliane Red Blend 2017

This is a powerhouse Nerello. Tannic, dark, red fruit but primarily darker fruit. Good acidity, smoky and complex. This is built for long aging. Delicious! — a month ago

Contrada S Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese 2013

Perfect after 9 years in bottle. Burgundian dark cherry notes, muted tannins, smooth with no mustiness. I personally still prefer a touch of added cappuccio like my fave Terre Nere. — 3 years ago

Passorosso Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese 2016

Still one of my favorite Etna wines. At least the third bottle that I have had. Fresh red cherries and tart strawberry but with smoke and earthiness. Just delicious to drink. Just brought home all of the single vineyard Contrada. Going to let them rest for some time. — 4 years ago

Contrada Rampante Sicilia Nerello Mascalese 2018

!00% Nerello Mascalese, Single Contrada from a favorite Sicilian Producer. This isn’t the typical lighter, easy drinking Nerello. This has body, weight and complexity. Darker fruit: black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, smoke, with tannins and acidity. Definitely capable of aging but I have a hard time time not drinking them! — 7 months ago

Contrada Porcaria Etna Rosso 2016

Deep translucent ruby. Salty, smoky nose with strong iron/blood notes. Medium bodied with very nice grip. Pure red fruit. Good length. Clean and fresh and juicy. Balanced. Not as good as Etna pt 1 but still, love this style — 5 years ago

These wines are all amazing. The S was a little lighter then some of the other Contradas. — 2 years ago

'Crasa Contrada' Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese 2017

From Le Volpe e l’uva, this is not as good an expression of nerella mascalese as what comes out of a place like Passopisciaro, but you can’t beat it for the price. Italy in a glass… — 3 years ago
