Always delicious. Drinking well for such a young Barolo — 3 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of four hours. The 2021 Bricco Ambrogio pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with a mix of tart and ripe, mostly red fruits: Morello cherry, strawberry Jolly Ranchers, pomegranate, lingonberries, a whole freaking rose bush, dehydrated orange, tar, talcum powder, dry gravelly, earth, and a gentle mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. At this point, I’m convinced that the Scavino’s are making the most interesting Barolo from the Roddi commune and they have nearly single-handedly put Bricco Ambrogio on the map. Drink now with patience and through 2061. — a month ago

Extremely impressive showing from this Barolo - fully integrated and clearly at peak plateau of drinking (likely to continue drinking well for another handful of years but wouldn’t wait) - this was very masculine in style presenting a full bodied palate but the tannins were soft and silky. Meaty, truffle, tobacco with dark dark fruits - certainly worth buying — 7 months ago

Perfect representation of mature Barolo. Plenty of fruit left. — a month ago

Fresh, delicious red — 2 years ago
This is a higher altitude, east-facing single vineyard Barolo from Paolo Scavino. It bursts with a distinctive floral scent and aromas of blackberries, plums, grilled herbs, subtle smoke, truffles and iodine. Full-bodied, the 2018 Ravera shines with remarkable freshness, elegance and polished tannins, finishing long and powerful. A rock solid Barolo. Drink now until 2040. — 3 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2021 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of Luxardo cherry, strawberry, red roses, crazy sun-Alpine herbs, and exotic spices, porchini, the powdered cheese packet from Kraft, mac & cheese, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose (save for the mac & cheese packet, lol). The finish is long, elegant and saline. Furthermore, the wine seems to gain body and weight with air. This might be the best Monvigliero I’ve had from Paolo Scavino. Drink now through 2051+. — 23 days ago
