N:Dark cherries , plums, strawberries and warm spices. Dark licorice, soil and wood.
P:After 5 yrs in American oak, the palate is refined yet burly, oxymoronic. Not as delicate as Tondonia, but deeper, more rooted to the earth. Black/red. Delicious weight. These LdH wines are so iconoclastic, they live in their own space/time. One of the great treasures, I wish people hadn’t discovered them.

Could not resist to try one. Some critics state wait until 2021 till even 2026, others state drink now. So double decanted. Typical heavy merlot nose. Dark fruit, scented wood, gravel, pencil shavings on the palate. Drying tannins that coat the mouth. Upside potential to 94-95 when the tannins from the new oak have settled down. From one of my favorite co-ops. I believe they are still the third largest co-op in Europe. Their tasting room sits on the top of the hill in the center of Barbaresco under & to the side of the church with an easy downhill short walk to Gaja.
2019 was a very good vintage in Piedmont.
The nose shows some light smokiness and lightly grilled meats. Dullish fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, raspberries with notes of black raspberries. Sandstone, dark earth and dark withering flowers with red roses.
The palate is ripe, juicy and lush. Quite pleasant for a youthful Barbaresco. Blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, black raspberries, raspberries & blueberry hues. Crushed sandstone & limestone, nice mid spice, dry tobacco, tough leatheriness, barrel shavings, soft presence mix of dry & fresh herbs, dry river stone, red cola, brilliant red florals, red & pink roses, excellent acidity with a nicely tensioned, structured, balanced, elegant finish that lasts minutes landing on wood & dry earth.

Nose of cotton candy, sweet chocolate, peat, and lemon. Much stronger taste of peat and charred wood, with a softer lemon sweetness behind. Finish of bitter chocolate and coffee. — 4 years ago

Aged Yolo County Tannat. With a whimsical name. Dark color with a rusty edge. Smells a bit funky. Spike of berry liquor. Hint of wood chips. Flavors are very heavy on the black currant with a hint of plummy-ness. Might be a bit past perfection. Not as much as much tannin and funk as some Tannat, but has plenty of style. Drinks a bit like a French wine. Wonder who is using these grapes now that Rockwall is out of business? — 8 months ago
I love Produttori and I love Asili. Medium garnet, the nose reveals gorgeous scents of dried violets, dried red plums and red cherries, forrest floor, leather, black truffles, wood spice and a dash of refreshing menthol. The palate expands vertically, offering a multi-layered, full-bodied, tightly structured Nebbiolo destined for long term aging. This is a delicious Barbaresco from one of the world's most respected wine co-operatives. Drink now until 2040. — 2 years ago
Dark and thick. Inky dark fruit, blackberry, menthol, black plum skin, bramble, some oak. Tannins sit on top of the tongue. Acidity trickles down the side. There’s an initial tartness, maybe the black plum skin. The menthol and wood notes creep in with leather emerging. Blackberry and bramble round out the flavor. Dark, deep purple color. Lovely aroma of roses, ripe red/black plums and wood-stove. Flavors are elegant and meaty. Some savory, chewy parts and plenty of bing cherry. Also has an inky streak. This is a great cooler climate Zin. Drinks a bit like Merlot, but has a hazelnut or chestnut thing that sings pure Zin. — 4 years ago
