Very acidic with pear notes — 6 years ago
Love the color on this one. Beautiful lemon yellow.
Subtle bouquet. Aromatic, the smell of lilies and bunches of raspberries.
Wow. What a complex blend. If lilies could produce fruit, this gold ore would represent.
Light acidity. Really love the rounded taste, aroma and color. All combine to make a worthwhile tasting experience. — 7 years ago
Bloody nose iron ore. Vivacious with mouth drying minerality; reminds a little of volcanic island wine. — 8 years ago
Wines I bring when visiting the boyfriend—as a chef he has a real passion for game meats, so seemed like a good choice. Brooding plums, black cherries, and grilled meat form the base of the profile. Add to this a dusting of earth and iron ore followed by lighter notes of anise and violet. Medium-bodied with muscular, chewy tannins, aging in concrete has graced this Gigondas with texture and trace minerality. Drinking well now. 14.0% ABV — 9 years ago
Tight.
N:Reticent, herbaceous, black plums, cocoa. Plush red/brown velvet nose.
P: Way too young… patience my man,
But nice plums, tilled earth, dense, herbs, lots of acid,
This ain’t no Cali/Ore Pinot.
I say come back in five? yrs.
After 1 hr + in a decanter, Wow! Dirty leather,
Big.
Thank @ Fass Selections

The pick of the sites on the big hill, this is limestone again, and the wine is fascinating, bloody yet almost mineral; a truly complex mid-palate, animated and squirming; dark fruit and warm crust and a lingering multi-faceted finish. — 4 years ago
E buono ma non e speciale alla ore stessa. Ci sarebbe un altro piu buono mercato come ginsen New Zealand Marborough Sauvgnion Blanc. Ma sono felice di abere cercato i vini locali a Seattle. Vorrei studiare piu. — 8 years ago
The nose to this is different to the only two other vintages I've seen of this. Insanely ripe; blackcurrant, pomegranate molasses, musk, candied cherry and gojis. Relatively gentle tannin for Langhe Neb but there's a juicy supporting acid. At first I was in ore of this wine but it's been less impressive as time has gone by, yet still very enjoyable — 9 years ago
Vibrant and long. Dry. Tropical ore. — 10 years ago
The youthful nose is dominated by high toned fruit notes of red cherry, pomegranate, raspberry with accents of allspice, iron ore and whole cluster fermented fruit, There is depth and complexity in the aromas but still quite coiled and restrained. Reticent but elegant red Pinot fruit flavors alongside a focused mineral edge. Dense fruit based tannins intertwined with the refreshing acidic zing provide a formidable structure. The finish has emerging but restrained red fruit and Corton power. This appears to need 3 to 4 more years to develop as air added layers but still reminded slightly reticent. I feel the wine will show well for many years. — 4 years ago
kriek!! a bit too much rs. demi sec almost. still delicious!! — 8 years ago
Tiny, sauntering bubbles. Crispy citrus with a gentle nutty center and touch of iron ore on the finish. Excellent! — 9 years ago
The nose starts off a bit shy and subdued with bitter cherry, red raspberry and cassis fruit with just a smudge of earthy mineral. It opens with air but remains elegant and pretty. Floral and iron ore minerality become noticeable. Had those regal, austere Sangiovese tannins with cranberry and bitter cherry fruit. A supple floral element mixed with earthier base tones. Continues to be focused, supple and elegant. — 9 years ago

Vino nobile from Montepulciano is one of our most favorite Italian wines. Made from a strain of Sangiovese called Prugnolo gentile. It requires a bit of an acquired taste as it is super minerally, earthy with a very present iron ore/rust note. But when it all comes together in perfect harmony it is an experience. And so was this wine. — 2 years ago
