Chenin des Picasses 2020

Inaugural vintage of this bottling. 10-year-old Chenin vines in the Picasses lieu dit. Lemon curd, baked apple, spiced pear, and peach. Long and waxy. Very good now but tuck some away. — 6 months ago

I’ve never seen, let alone tried, a white Chinon! (Then again, I’m not a big Chenin fan.)

@Tom Casagrande tough to recommend if you’re not a Chenin guy, but Chinon is home to some awesome examples. Personally love the whites of Cheateau de La Bonneliere. Raffault holds a special place in my heart though.

Domaine du Colombier (Jouvault)

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Chinon Cabernet Franc 2021

May not have the character of say a Baudry or Raffault Chinon, but still a profoundly true-to-terroir Chinon with all that fine grained dark berry earthiness, low on the funko-meter, & just plain ol’ low alcohol fun. Paired with brunch cheesy egg casserole of Gruyère, nutmeg, Parmesan etc that soaks overnight in Half & Half. — a year ago
