A producer I’m not familiar with. Les Combettes combines the intensity of Puligny with the generosity of the Meursault Charmes, which it borders.
I slow ox’ed this for an hour or so before enjoying half the bottle, then re-corked the second half for the next day. Definitely no pre-mox here, thankfully. Day one sported a mellow profile…medium bodied with honeysuckle, lemon oil dripped over limestone, and a high acid quick finish. Day two showed really nice improvement…channeled a bit of a Mersault flair with its richer/more rounded texture showing lemon-honey and sea salt popcorn. I’d hold this 3-5 more years. — 4 days ago
Fruits noirs, des épices au nez comme en bouche qui est magnifique, c’est puissant et équilibré en même temps, texture soyeuse, finale très longue, gros niveau, très chic et encore super jeune. 93-94
Dark fruits, spices, magnificent bottle, powerful yet balanced, great soft and silky texture despite the power, great length. To the level of many GC, still young. — 2 days ago
Floral et fruits blancs au nez, une bouche équilibrée toute en finesse, classe et élégance, sans être riche, possède une très belle texture, super bon en ce moment.92-93
Some floral and white fruit hints in the nose, very balanced wine with classe and elegance, finesse rather then weight but still has enough richness, very good right now. — 2 days ago
The second vintage and wow this is stunning. Leaps and bounds better than the 19 and the 19 was a great effort. Nose is buttery and confectionary with stunning mineral depth. Smells almost chevalier or batard like. Hoisted up by its own Batard. Dazzlingly pure and my goodness this is just so ultra refined. Really penetrates my nostrils like the aromas are almost solid objects. Unreal. Palate is deep, rich and bracing. Wow the acidity on this is brilliant with icing on a cake texture and just so refined, classy and long my goodness this is long. So pure and so sappy. Amazingly clean. Just an awesome bottle of St. Aubin. Nose develops wet stones, fresh sea air and lemon drop. The balance here is exceptional. Treacly and elegant. Serious and playful while also being incredibly long. The length here is not to believed. This is one of the finest St. Aubins I’ve ever had. I can’t imagine why this is not a 9.7, but want to see what air can do to this.
Wow the cotton candy confection is just off the charts. Stunning. So clean. So airy. This is what white burgundy is all about. Fruit is coming around. Superb citrus and Meyer lemon. Some lime as well. Rieslingesque. — 2 days ago
Had this at a tasting and bought several bottles, aged well, just opened last one. Aged for about 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new). Ruby, brown edges, with aromas of red and black stewed fruits and complex spice. On the palate, flavors of layered fruit, ripe black cherry and raspberry with cedar, tobacco, herbs and nutty notes. Full soft tannins, balanced acidity, long ending with fruit and earthy character. Outstanding! Worth the wait! — 3 days ago
In some ways White Burgundy chose the tough life where success is measured against expert oak integration and that 'aint an easy thing to do well.
Les Equinces uses oak in the right amounts creating an upfront spiced vanilla lemon profile for first impressions.
But it's a wine that's good beyond oak influence. Personality hides for a bit, but let this decant and warm and sharp points resolve to soft textures. Vanilla lemon turns to Kentucky bourbon and cinnamon spiked graham cracker, fragrant white flowers. — 2 days ago
Vincent Girardin continues the winemaking tradition of his father and grandfather before him. Aromas of crisp stone fruits with citrus notes, complex. On the palate apple and citrus flavors, lively with honey and spice, starting to develop butterscotch tones. Well balanced, long finish, complex ending with mineral tones. Nice! Will continue to impress with cellar age. — 4 days ago

2022/5/8-9 with koshiabura tempura, pork-wrapped Yanaka ginger, etc... a nice mix of sweet, rounded berry fruit, high-toned floral notes, woodland and a touch of oak influence typical for Faiveley but under control. Juicy acidity is the main structural element , with some fine tannin. Not super deep or rich, but very drinkable with multiple facets to examine. — 16 days ago
