Pungent fruity notes with loads of spiciness. Such an incredible nose! Beautiful melange of cherry, raspberry and baking spices. And bam. Fully flavored with loads of fruit, silky smooth, and light and easy finish. Incredibly well balanced and refined. My only complaint, although a small one, is the higher alcohol content is noticable and almost takes away from the elegance of the wine. If the AC were lowered a bit I'd have to say it was a nearly perfect wine. All that said, I have always loved brunellos and this is an amazing example. Definitely recommend! — 2 years ago

Have not had since 2019. Nose is brambly with a cherry melange. Very earthy. Some wood shavings. A bit aromatically closed for now. Palate is juicy, very concentrated and sappy with great purity. Really long but also seems backwards. But terrific fruit and intensity. Very very sappy. Needs a few more years but you can the low yields of 16 gave this wine density and tons of material.
After an hour this has softened up and is super juicy and the tannins have calmed down. 9.2 to 9.3. Lavieres is such good terroir. — 3 years ago

Green pea and lemon, butternut and chive; a waxy Semillon essence, leek and white pepper. Perfect age here on a magnum, and shining incandescent. Garden melange on the palate showing baby spinach minus the tannin and crunchy sprouted barley but bouncing hard to lemon abcf citrus peel to deliver a creamy yet pithy framework that rings undeniably dry and lemongrass forever. Excellent in every way and singularly expansive. The DOCG is well -deserved and remarkable. Aloe and chayotes.

Recommended by a staffer at Enoteca Di Piazza in Montalcino after I explained my preferences. After 2 hours slow-ox - Bold on the nose with earthy dark fruit. Mouthwatering acidity and nominal oaky tannins making it quite smooth. On the palate a complex melange of dark cherry, licorice, cinnamon, undergrowth, and a touch of leather and sweet balsamic. Finish is moderately long and tobacco-dry. Delightful. — 2 years ago
Cork shattered, had to decant it. Well aged to say the least. Over 20 years in the bottle. Blend of Merlot 80% and Cab Franc 20%. Still has excellent color. Just a little hint of rust on edge. Aroma is very interesting. Savory and kinda minty. Some horehound maybe. Hint of soy sauce too. It’s a crazy melange in the nose. Fruit too. Flavors are French with lots of bittersweet stuff. Full of cassis. Little espresso. Complexity in spades and dense flavors. This has aged into a beaut. A great Saint-Emillion. Kinda has it all going on. — a year ago
Wow, just wow.
Part of the blend comes from vines planted in 1923, another part from vines planted in the 50s—specially from a parcel comprised of all 7 varieties (supposedly more). Exquisitely light and balanced but with dozens of really interesting flavors — mandarin orange, pipe tobacco, sandalwood, flint, golden and red apple, marzipan, vanilla along with the usual melange of berries and chalk. It’s all about the poise, finesse and structure on this one though—like a gymnast nailing a dismount. Also, not bad with jalapeño poppers (or “muncher peppers” as they’re called on the Glue Pot’s English menu). — 2 years ago
I must have sniffed the glass 4-5x before I put the wine in my mouth. Funk , in the best sense of the word , leather , cured meat and old furniture . When I finally tasted , the complexity of flavors were head spinning. A melange of flowers , spices , game, red fruit and some dark fruit . Reminds me of some aged Burgundy and Barolo that I have consumed. What I imagine being on LSD would be like, hopefully there are flashbacks. An amazing trip ! — 3 years ago

Lacking a bit on the finish… very good otherwise. There are better at the price point. — 3 months ago
