Perfect summer red - definitely full bodied but on the lighter side. Hints of cherry and spice. — 2 years ago
Poured through a Venturi into a decanter prior to service. For a grape that has traditionally been used to make less-than-serious fortified wines, this was quite a serious Mavrodaphne indeed. From ungrafted vines, the 2020 “Mov” pours purple in color. A touch reticent early, this is developing and only beginners to open after about 30min after which it revealed it’s layered red and dark fruits, earth, cocoa, purple flowers, minerals and soft baking spices. Structure was medium+. Balanced and paired well with our beef and grilled eggplant. Only 800 bottles produced. — 3 years ago
This overtly surprisingly good for any Greek natural wine I’ve tried. Lotsa Stoney terroir, funky but just polished enough to be so damn enjoyable on its own or with some poultry or grilled fish or whatever. Have it! — 7 years ago
The Kir-Yianni Ramnista 2009 is 100% Xinomavro, an indigenous variety that is lauded as the noblest red in Greece, the root "Xino" means sour and "mavro" translated, means black. Does it live up to its name? The nose is a gathering storm of black olive tapenade and black currant aromas, leather, violets, smoke and coriander seed. On the palate, brash, slightly astringent mid-palate tannins hem in juicy Italian plums, iron ore, wild game, and yes markedly high acid. Needs time. 14.0% ABV — 11 years ago
Delicious! Very light in color, it looked more like a dark rosé than a red. Bright, vibrant red fruit on the nose and palate. Great balance. Made from an indigenous grape from Cyprus. What a treat! 11/22/25. — 7 months ago

2014 vintage. Pretty awesome. Ripe but not overly fruit driven. Definitely a little meaty funk. Makes me crave grilled octopus with citrus and Mediterranean herbs. — 11 years ago
A big wine with deep black fruits. Pretty good. — 8 months ago
Blend Shizaz, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Lefkada.
Red cherry aromas and palate, Bob calls out plum flavors, lighter body than the rosé, low acid with soft tannins. I got a glass of this one 🍷 — 2 years ago
Blend of Mandilaria and Mavro Aidani
Intense fresh sour black cherries, pomegranate juice, a whiff of black pepper, allspice.
On the palate this is fresh, with vibrant acidity and nice, juicy acidity.
This is on the leaner, fresher side with sour cherries galore… worked v. nicely with some grilled pork chops. — 5 years ago
This is Mega Spileo Red Blend (60% Mavrodafni + 40% Mavro Kalavritino)
