Single Ferment Series 215 BC Ferment Secano Interior Portezuelo Pais 2019

First wine grape planted in North America? You have my attention. Fascinating history of this varietal that I highly recommend reading up on if you’re lucky to have a friend like @Brendan Devine buy you the Wine Grapes tome. The wine itself is really tasty, desert-like in your mouth and has that full almost raisiny note that a lot of natural wines have. Give it a shot. — 9 days ago

Barke Vienna Style Lager #52 Spring 2021

Hanabi lager, spring, barke. Probably the closest I’ll get to screaming eagle. Really wonderful lager with some beautiful bread, a hint of citrus, and really wonderful full mouthfeel of grains with the slightest bitter flavor of hops. It is an outstanding beer. — 9 days ago

Larner Vineyard Red Wine Blend 2016

This is a wonderful Grenache from Santa Barbara County.

Full bodied with medium plus acidity.

Showing black fruits with wood, earth, spices, light vanilla, licorice, tobacco, chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.

Dry on the palate with a great mouthfeel. Good by itself or with food.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, so be patient. Showing a great nose once it opens up.

This Single Vineyard Grenache is nicely balanced with nice complexity.

Wine Enthusiasts 94 points.

Would be nice to revisit it in 3 to 5 years.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

Is this Grenache or Syrah-dominant?

"Odedi" Influencer Badge

I believe that the 2016 is Grenache dominant and the 2017 is Syrah based

Reserve Champagne Blend Rosé

Shay A

I picked up 6 of these and 6 of the Palmer BdB last Fall and just polished off my last one of the Brut Reserve, as these come across as more accessible and less complex than their BdB sibling.

These champagnes are fairly new to the US (though not new across the pond), so I’m starting to see them more and more. This champagne reminds me of Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve “lite”. It pours golden in the glass with plenty of toasty/yeasty notes, alongside truffle honeycomb and sea salt. The palate trends more towards the rich side yet finishes lighter than expected. Some nougat, golden delicious apple, caramel and lemon pastry. Not the most complex champagne, but it’s enjoyable on its own and has been a solid everyday/house champagne the last 6-8 months.

Jurassic Park Chenin Blanc 2019

12% alcohol. Good acidity, not super complex but a really nice every day Chenin Blanc. Ripe yellow limes, lemons - hints of fresh cut grass - so juicy and fresh. I bought 6 bottles - my go to white for the next weeks. — 11 days ago
