Naked. Even better than last time. Seems to have aged well — 5 years ago
The Kindeli wines from Alex Craighead require at least a decent understanding of natural wine and wine faults. These are beautifully crafted rustic wines usually polarized by oxidation or reduction. Verano is of the latter group, a fire cracker red blend of aromatic whites, all unrecognizable and heavily influenced by native yeast and mild to moderate skin contact. It has a grainy matzah meal aroma that mixes to concentrated tart citrus - full bodied, all full of sunshine too. — 6 years ago

Vibrant red purple. Inviting, abundant nose of musty black cherry. Medium-bodied palate of that same black cherry with some light black tea, earthy pomegranate, and a hint of anise. Throw in medium plus acidity and medium tannins and we have a classic New Zealand PN that can hold its own with meals of any type (it’s the universal red, after all). New World meets Burgundy: that’s New Zealand. Drink now through 2029. — 5 years ago
Fresh and expansive nose. Palate brings a surprising amount of citrus along with delicate stone fruit. Good acid. Interesting wine with lots of potential. — 6 years ago
Sweet red raspberry with a sappy herbaceousness. Bright and tangy on the palate, with flavors of orange zest, mulled cranberries, and slate. Clean finish with appreciable length. — 7 years ago

Wonderful wine. So lean and refreshing. Austere and tight, steely and beautifully made. Long life ahead but so good now — 8 years ago

#pinotgris from #nzwine #martinborough okay overpriced but still lovely and textural. Lots of ripe Granny Smith and green water pears in the nose and palate. Also a bit flinty (screwcap) lemon rind, honey, ripe pineapple...my God as I’m writing this tasting note I’m liking it more and more. Has some Rieslingesque qualities and just a pinch of sweet ripe fruit on the finish — 7 years ago
