Our final long lunch in Cairns at the Salt House on the waterfront. No formal notes but i have always loved this Shiraz from Waiheke Island in the middle of Auckland Harbour NZ. Plummy spicy and savoury with supple tannins. Overtones of Northern Rhone and easy to drink. — 5 years ago
Valentine's Day dinner with my Bahama mama at The Landing; a 200-year-old estate in Harbour Island's downtown. Originally the home of the island's first doctor, the colonial-style building served as Customs House and then a private club. It was built when Harbour Island was a ship building center. With the help of supermodel India Hicks, The Landing has been transformed into a charming 12-room boutique hotel with one of the hottest restaurants in town. — 5 years ago

Robin hosted a dinner with the winemaker at her house, so we bought a few bottles as we really enjoyed his story. Just opened 1st bottle, nice but unremarkable for the price point. — 2 years ago
Honeysuckle. Chamomile. Very Grand Cru Chablis like. Super light on the palate. It was a little too subtle for me at first, but I’ve come around - this is a pretty great white Burgundy. — 5 years ago

Business as usual. Which means this is a spectacular wine. Lovely acidity, soft oak tannins, pleasant in every way. — 7 years ago

Should be too early. It’s not. This wine is insane right now, ridiculously well balanced; it will probably get better but I doubt it’s a 30 year wine. — 5 years ago

Nice South African wine dinner Wednesday at Angelo’s Cabarita on Sydney Harbour
Eight wines served with typical South African food so pairings were important as food can be quite spicy (Kingfish Crudo, Peri Peri Chicken, Bunny Chow Lamb Curry, Boerewors, Rib Eye and Malta Pudding)
The 2019 Kanonkop Paul Sauer Bordeaux blend from Magnum was excellent as was 2021 Meerlust Bordeaux blend as well as the 2017 Kanonkop Pinotage from Magnum. Also interesting was 2007 cold fermented Nederberg Edelkeur with the pud.
Great night.
