Loved! Kei after march madness — 7 years ago
In the middle of a business trip, and a glass of Sanity is exactly what I needed. Nice fruit, good balance and not overpowering. Enjoying at Weft & Warp — 9 years ago
My favorite wine from the little known Murphys region in CA. A finely balanced wine that lingers for a good 20+ seconds. — 9 years ago
33 year old Gewurtztraminer vines from the Columbia Gorge. Harvested on the early side, so plenty of acidity remains intact. Shows the powerful, floral aromatics one looks for in this grape, but drinks bone dry. What kind of madness/courage has a producer making dry Gewurz their flagship wine with just over 200 cases? Very highly recommended. — 9 years ago

Mourvèdre madness. Petrichor, chewing tobacco, black pepper. Very prickly. Great with steak. — 7 years ago
Full body madness - great with a streak! — 8 years ago
Holy F, perfection, yes @Lyle Fass
Mango and pineapple with a light, moist slate nose on the recent cork pull.
Insane tropical fruit on the palate, awesome minerality/acidity balance and med-long finish. I'm going to be disappointed for sure that I did not buy a case of this, a 4-pack won't be enough. For $33, this is Rheinhessen madness in a glass. — 8 years ago

Investigating classic pairings and realized the only thing I had to serve chèvre on was packets pretzels from the flight I just…flew in from?
Fortunately pretzels were good call. Otherwise?I’m annoyed. I’ve never cared for goat cheese. And I’ve scoffed at how Sancerre scarcely tastes like Sauvignon Blanc anymore.
But the two together are so delightful. It’s coming to terms with a madness in line with last week when I found myself hanging with a gorgeous couple (Los Angeles models yayyy) and I wished I could write them off. Then one picked up his guitar and started playing 90’s/early aughts hits with passion, and his girlfriend confided she wrote Edward Allen Poe inspired poetry and I thought “damn I love them…where did my inner Daria go???”
Both pairings really pleased me.
The humans it’s obvious they are asshole artists like me.
The cheese and wine? I never liked the gamey notes and (to me) overly rich bordering on pasty mouthfeel of chèvre. But somehow the floral, mineral, and white peach vibes from this Sancerre tease out the floral and earthy (without being animal-y) zings from the cheese.
I’m pissed that I found a way I like goat cheese. The more you know? — 4 years ago
Firstly, the relatively low score for this wine is madness. I’ve long been an enthusiastic follower of this producer, their 07 and 09s being among the very best wines I tasted a few years back (12 and 13 IIRC). On to the present, and the 2014 presents right away in the glass as a unique offering - beyond the typical Pinot profile of cherry and earth is something like oyster shell - normally I wouldn’t make that stretch, but I ate oysters last night and the profile is fresh in mind. On the palate it is rather massive and full bodied, though in a dramatic, red fruit forward way. This is not a wine for kids, it’s grippy and dense, awash with pure cassis and black currant flavours, resolving into a medley of spices - cinnamon and dried coconut perhaps - and that yummy jasmine tea tannin I always find in good NZ Pinot. The finish is long and fascinating- you can suck the flavour off your gums. This one is full of stuffing and will drink superbly now or for at least five more years. Outstanding. Order off vintages shop online for $53 - appears to be sold out. — 8 years ago
It been hot on the west coast...even in places it's not normally. Today is no different and you can add humidity; which is something we almost never have here. Time to bust out the Sauvignon Blanc. This beauty is loaded with tropical madness. Plenty of crystalline sugar in the bottom of the bottle. The green apple, ripe pineapple, lime, lemon, mango, green melon, guava, saline minerals, dry grassy notes, and spring flowers leap out of the glass. The palate matches the nose with beautiful, round, acidity and round rich long finish. Photos of, their tasting room and Calistoga vineyard. Delicious tonight! — 9 years ago
