Peachy and soft. Beautifully done — 5 years ago
The 15’ bottling sees Petit Verdot leading this Bordeaux blend at 32%, with 26% CS, 26% Merlot, 13% CF, and 3% Malbec.
Complex and deep nose of blackberry, cassis, fig, dry pine cone, dark soy source, butterscotch, thyme, black pepper, with hint of violet. The palate, while delicious and smooth, lacks the depth I expected. Finely grained tannins lead to a long peppery finish.

Just awesome.
A celebration of life.
Our life, our sons life, our lives together.
12 months ago on this night we hadn’t yet met our son.
Tomorrow he turns 1.
We survived, he survived and now we’re here.
Lock down, a pandemic, no gatherings, low to no visits with family members. It’s tough.
Life is golden regardless of isolation and wines like this help keep everything in perspective.
Brilliant, linear, generous.
Stay safe everyone. — 6 years ago
From magnum. Switching in between the 2016 cab and this Rhone blend, I actually like this better. Though not overly complex, the delicious red and blue fruits, gentle acidity, and silky tannins were seamless. Throwing in the sense of earth, here we have a subtle and elegant bottle. — 7 years ago
A stronger showing for the ‘06 vintage, it has hit its stride and drinking mature at the moment, I’m not sure I would take it much longer. Deep garnet with reddish hues, nose is low toned, dark and composed of savory leather, chocolate, espresso, stewed plum, black fig. Also the classic garrigue notes accompany but more in a distilled/medicinal sort of way. I think the structure from the oak is holding this wine up, theres tannin there to posture the deep and sappy fat this has. This doesn’t quite have the acid to lock in the freshness, so this comes across a little more thick than usual, more gras. Love the deep black fruit and bitter cocoa notes though, again leather and coffee come about, some meatiness, tar, spice cake, clove, and pepper there too. No reason to hold any longer, wishing I could’ve popped a cork at the 8-10 year mark on this guy. — 7 years ago
Château Brane-Cantenac 2023 – Margaux, Grand Cru Classé, BDX France 🇫🇷
Overview
A highly aromatic and deeply concentrated Margaux showing impressive layering, polished texture, and outstanding fruit density, with oak integration still prominent in its youth. Built for complexity and long-term evolution.
Aromas & Flavors
Blackberry compote, wild blueberry, cassis, black cherry liqueur, violet petal, sweet cedar, cocoa powder, graphite, subtle vanilla and toasted spice from new oak.
Mouthfeel
Medium-plus to full-bodied with silky, refined tannins, dense mid-palate concentration, seamless flow across the palate, and a long, plush finish. Oak remains slightly forward at this stage but clearly destined to integrate.
Food Pairings
Dry-aged ribeye, rosemary lamb, duck confit, porcini risotto, aged Gruyère or Comté.
Verdict
A seductive, high-concentration Margaux with real depth and aromatic brilliance. Oak currently rides slightly high, but the underlying fruit density and texture suggest excellent aging potential and future harmony.
🍷 Personal Pick
The perfume is intoxicating and the fruit core is massive, this just needs time for the oak to melt into the frame. Big upside once the pieces lock together. — 5 months ago
Delicious balanced grapefruit and stone fruits, lacidity that needs more time to soften. Touch of creamy oak. Light Golden color. END OF LOCK DOWN CELEBRATIONS — 6 years ago
Apricots a plenty on the nose and palate with hints of pineapple — 7 years ago
While I think this is an outstanding wine, this app is turning into a useless tracking device. I scan and lock to compare prices and see “unavailable” for the past 4 years!!!! Reason I don’t contribute is ... post the price of the vino (ball park) and people might engage a lot more. So far the group around me right now ( 50+) says the app sucks... feedback: Fix It!!!! Just sharing the truth. — 8 years ago
This bottle of 2010 Roberto Voerzio “Brunate” was generously provided by a friend who wanted to share this with me after service along with a few others from Tasting Group. Opened, splash decanted and consumed over three hours; served side-by-side with the 2010 Pecchenino “Le Coste”. The Voerzio “Brunate” was a relative hermit. Even after three hours in the decanter, it remained a bit of a wallflower while the Pecchenino was a whirling dervish on the dance floor. The classic structure of 2010 and the austerity of “Brunate” made for an impenetrable fortress, keeping the fruit under lock and key…and behind a moat and a drawbridge and stone walls with soldiers and trebuchets for that matter. Despite all of that, one does get the sense there is a deep core of high quality fruit recessed underneath the surface. It’s dark and mysterious…and simply hard to access at this moment in time. For what it’s worth, Voerzio’s holdings in “Brunate” come from the western portion of the MGA, on the La Morra side, right next to Oddero’s holdings. Frankly, this is going to need a long, long time in the cellar before it shows really well. If i had any in my cellar, I wouldn’t touch again until 2030. — 3 years ago
Rich, flavorful Cab with fantastic bold tannins well integrated with the dark red fruit of cranberry, blueberry, currant. Layers of complexity readily opened up and a grippy finish. We picked it up at cellar doors when we were traveling across SE SA a few years back and visited Coonawarra. Had to drink it today to celebrate their most severe but shortest 3 day lock down in this pandemic history. — 6 years ago
