Friends in from New Orleans. Great wine and is always a good combination. Smooth, not overly anything, well balanced, silky tannins. Cherries and chocolate. Winemaker Helen Keplinger — 5 months ago

El Diablo Red Wine 2014

Double decant (min cloudy sediment). A bewildering dark ruby red. On the nose: floral, cinnamon, red fruit, green veggie. Taste: blueberry, vanilla, spice, orange peel...medium finish for this Califonia Rhone valley. — 4 months ago

Red Slope Grenache 2009

Interesting wine. I spent the first 45 minutes wondering if this one had some kind of taint going on. And after four hours or so, probably found that it is a little bit of volatile acidity. However, after an hour it started settling down.
Didn't affect the palate. At an hour and a half, it started to show some wildflowers, black fruit, some herbs, some baking spice, but really quite subtle with a finish that was a little more acidic and out of balance vs. the fruit on the front and middle. White pepper finish. This is still a nice wine and IMO deserving of a 90. But I think the best years of this wine were about 1-2 years ago and probably should have popped the cork on this one then.

No rating. Quite a bit of VA/EA on the nose. The palate seemed different but it’s hard to know if it was as it should be or if it was simply not flawed like the aromatics were.

I had this probably 3x over the last five years or so. Sort of forgot about this bottle. Although the nose was very different on this one, I believe the palate was mostly similar after an hour or two.

@Mark Flesher : The palate was definitely more along the lines of what to expect...Grenache black pepper spice, ripe and spicy red fruits, but also a very mellow profile. Would love to try a younger vintage of this!

Mars Moon Mountain Red Blend 2015

52%G/34%S/14%M. A very polished young wine. Bursting with fresh fruit and a velvety texture. Balanced by medium acidity and finishes with slight tannins. Drinks well now and should improve for a couple more years. — 7 months ago
