2006 vintage. 426 cases produced, 3rd vintage from Jonata. Good fill and excellent (if slightly dry) cork. Decanted with little sed and tasted after 2.25 hours. Whiffable, earthy nose. Light-medium body. Tremendous, dark cherry concentration flavor-wise. A token offering of richness perceived just behind the front teeth on the roof of the mouth/palate. Bright golden color. Aromas of tropical fruits, white flowers and sea spray. The palate leans more toward pear and unripe peach with a pleasant herbal note on the finish. Mouth filling texture, medium body and crisp acidity. There is a bit of weight (pleasant) but it’s not over the top. Still fresh (opened almost five years past the vintage date) and quite fruit forward. So interesting! — 7 months ago

This wine has a medium ruby hue (trending deep in color) with robust and layered aromas and flavors that include strawberry sauce (think fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt), raspberry coulis, tart cherry, rose water, tomato leaf, mint, black licorice, anise, vanilla, and pipe tobacco.

On the palate, it’s dry, with medium (+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol (13%) and medium fine grained, soft tannins.

It’s a delicious and versatile wine. And fun to taste a California expression of Sangiovese outside of its homeland in Italy! — 2 months ago
