A Smokey barrel toast dominates the nose, in a good way.
Complex and layered on the palate. Ripe raspberries and spice box persist. Lovely length, powerful texture and finish. Bevan is so consistent. I was in the 93 space, while wifey played her joker and suggested 94. — 7 years ago
375ml format. As usual, a joker to enjoy in any celebration — 7 years ago
First off this wine is amazing. Very reminiscent of old style wines. It is so complex changing over the time that you drink it. Earthy round nose with hints of raspberry, mustard seed and dried herbs. Dehydrated raspberry, dried herbs, asparagus and a silky tannic finish on the palate. Don't forget to thank Joker (Leducs' horse) for all the hard work!

Had to transfer the wine into an empty French Merlot bottle (the only included red wine at this all inclusive resort, think Charles Shaw) then sneak it into our Valentine dinner, self-served Home Town Buffer style. Joker glass didn't do this wine justice. Awesome beach location but not the best Valentine dinner experience. Was a wonderful wine experience after 4 nights of cheap Merlot. — 7 years ago

1982 vintage. Tremendous color. Decanted and tasted over the course of two hours. Throwing respectable sed. Ridiculous body for a 1982, esp considering the Saint-Julien pedigree. Big, initial fruit in the entry palate that carried over into the mid-palate. Thinned out noticeably at the end. Woulda guessed 1990. Have had approx 7-8 '82's this year and they were all consistent throughout with the lean body. This one was a joker for sure. Based on this example, not improving but can leverage the performance for another 3-5 years without significant drop-off. Full disclosure...love older St. Julien reds but not a fan of Branaire. 9.16.23. — a year ago
