Lady fingers dipped in dark roast coffee. Dreamy, sensual. This wine reminds me of that mesmerizing guy in my college class who pulled a paring knife from his backpack every Wednesday evening at 7:00 and cut slivers of apple, flipping them from the knife tip to his mouth with a sexually suggestive flick of the tongue. The softest of porn, pornographic in the Victorian sense. And a happy discovery for me — Trader Joes sells slutty wine inexpensively by cutting out the wine pimp. — 8 years ago

The bouquet on this is outstanding. Blue/black fruits, a hint of smoked meat, lavender, mint and spice. Slight flick of heat. Black cherry, brine, licorice, cedar on the palate. Linear acidity and smooth tannin. Good finish too. F’n solid! Perfect for V-Day steaks. — 6 years ago

Joachim Flick, Riesling Classic 2020

The nose is great! Lemon, lemon zest, a chalky touch, and some flowery notes. The palate is dominated by a laser beam acid drive which is complemented by nice a juicy lemon notes all along, a good width, a vivid mouthfeel and a tiny bitter, zesty note in the end, after a mouth-watering finish. And ahhhhhhhhhbbb the stony floral Sauv Blanc gives the wine lift and air, the wings, while the secret engine of Semillon provides a deep counterbalance, a waxy rudder guiding the whole contraption smoothly thru the air. It surprised me. It’s got a tropical herbaceous thing. Like the tropical cocktail with just enough herb garnish to cut through whatever juice is in it. And bone dry. Do I have a metaphor for this...let’s see it is a movie that’s starts as a chick flick and then has a deep message but then still has a happy slightly cliché ending, and you’re okay with it. It’s the 13 Going on 30 of Chenins. Hop on hop in like the bunny on the bottle. — 7 years ago
