Love Language Glowing Red 2019

Yowza! Hardy featured one of his patented Zoom jazz/wine parties and this wine is rocking. 55 % Shake Ridge Mourvèdre, Barbera, snd at least 25% Free-run Chenin Blanc. Light body, lively acidity, crushable round tannns, and a long sexy finish. The aroma attack is boysenberry, tart Michigan cherries, and barnyard garrique. Hardy’s wines are like nothing I’ve tried before… Half Cru Bojo and half funky Rhône… versatile with complex food flavors and fun with just an empty glass. Well done. — 6 months ago

Napa Valley Syrah

2019 vintage. This one is for @Ron R . Definitely the dark side of the grape. Roasted mixed nuts, white sage, smoke, ripe black plum and granite dust in the nose. Medium-medium heavy bod. All that jazz in the flavors + a frontal white and black pepper assault combined with sea salt, chocolate-covered raspberries and a big, yet gentle, blackberry/cassis crescendo. If you can locate it, worth the splurge. This could do a score of years and still have plenty to discover. 14.1% abv. — 2 months ago

@vinokeeno, that’s a nice touch. The wine looks stunning in the glass - very impressive. I’ve been trying to avoid checkout nosebleeds, but I’ll make an exception for this. Did you purchase direct from the winery, or on the secondary market. Thanks.

@Ron R had to draw it from work and pay a slight upcharge. Would rather not say what I paid for it here. Let’s just say it was less than $150 but worth more than twice that price.

Max's South Australia Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Lucious juicy ripe red cherry with peppery finish. A bit of leather. Almond. Style is jazz not Classical. Are those blackberries too? Content. What a fine find for Fall and Winter! Holiday guests enjoyed this with mushroom ravioli and cards with chocolates after. Ho and Merry New Year! — 6 months ago

François Pinon

Cuvée Botrytis Vouvray Chenin Blanc 1989

Looking at the label, there is no real indication for sugar levels. However, the fact that this was a recent release of the 1989 vintage, coupled with “Botrytis” printed in large letters, one can only imagine there is a higher level of residual sugar. Indeed, there was. In the glass, the wine pours a deep golden color that’s quite bright and appears to be full of life, not dull or tired looking at all. Viscosity looked to be medium+. The nose was vibrant and sweetly perfumed with Royal Riviera pears, Jazz apples, honey and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is sweet and tells a similar story with all of the aforementioned notes from the nose being confirmed. The finish is rich, long and ensconces the taste buds in flavor. What’s most remarkable is how balanced and drinkable this wine is; the higher acid no doubt largely to thank. For those that might be wondering, this falls into a residual sugar category that Pinon considers “liquoreux” which is basically “Doux” and nearly 2x the RS of their “moelleux”. Based off this experience, I would imagine well stored examples of this wine lasting until 2089, no cap. This wine was paired with a poached turnip topped with koji, honey and a sesame granola…which worked well. However, I’d be curious how a poached pear would work instead. — 3 months ago
