Ultreia Saint Jacques Mencía 2018

Popped and poured. Wet asphalt, dark cherry and purple flowers on the nose. Ripe bramble fruit, fine tannins, great acid. Long. Unbelievably fresh! Delicious on its own but even better with a meal. Out of this world QPR. Pérez truly is a wizard. — 13 days ago

La Rochelle Moulin-A-Vent Gamay 2015

Surprising Gamay with a classic and classy style, evoking Burgundy by its light side as much as the northern Cote-du-Rhône by its density. The aging in oak barrels is admirable for the way it supports the fruit without masking it. A beautiful bottle with an aging potential of at least 10 years.

L’élevage en fût de chêne est admirable par la manière qu’il a de soutenir le fruit sans le masquer. Une belle bouteille avec une potentiel de garde de 10 ans au moins.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Pretty nose and an almost candied cranberry on the palate. Nice structure and balance. Do I detect a fair amount of stem inclusion? — 5 days ago

Arbois Chardonnay 2013

Really a lovely thing. So multifaceted. Gently oxidative nose. Saline. Appealing funk. Palate is honeyed, notes of jasmine, peach, lychee, more ox, nuts, long finish. Enjoyed with pasta/homemade salsa di noci; pairing was on point. #puffeney — 6 days ago

@Andrew Schirmer what angerville has done to that sacred terroir is a travesty. Burgundy wines that are BORING. And expensive. Makes me so mad.

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

So tight - Only starting to open on Day #2. deep rich blue fruits are waking up in the background. These Wines are truly built for the long-haul and I don’t think 10 years is nearly enough time for them to show their true self. — 2 days ago

Domaine A. et P. de Villaine

Les Saint-Jacques Rully Chardonnay 2012

Nose has butterscotch candy, fresh lemon peel, cut lemon, candle wax, yellow apple slice and toasted white bread.

Palate has warmed yellow apple, warm lemon curd, dried lemon zest and moist clay.

Decanted ~90m.

At +3h, the palate is picking up some nice weight, it's grrrrrreat!

Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

Very expressive dried fruit (raisins, cherries), medium body, oxidized style. My wife asked whether this was champagne. Indeed it is, but first and foremost it is a wonderful wine. — 16 days ago

Les Vieux Murs Vieilles Vignes Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2018

Not as exotic and spicy as a previous bottle a few weeks ago, but still - this is a unique expression of chardonnay; gooseberry, lime, pineapple, green garden herbs. — 4 days ago

Cuvée Montgolfière Grand Cru Champagne Blend

This is super interesting, in a good way. This is going to sound blizzard but this Champagne has a very pleasant aroma which I can only compare to that grainy smell of a country grain or feed depot. It's the secondary brioche and toasty citrus apple notes which follow that are all too wonderful and familiar in a Grand Cru Champ. — 18 days ago
