IL GIGANTE SOAVE DOC Garganega 2018

Fine elegant example of garganega from Soave. Vines planted at 300 m in volcanic soils between 1967 and 1980. Racked by hand, natural production. Indigenous yeast, malo fermentation in steel. — 8 days ago

Terre Siciliane Il Frappato 2017

From Boeufhaus, loved it. The 2017 is a fresh and elegant red wine. The nose presents notes reminiscent of violets, cherries and certain citrus fruit. On the palate it is a light wine, full of fruit. It is persistent and with an acidity that brings freshness. — 4 hours ago

Il Blu Toscana 2006

Well made wine. The Cab and Merlot here mostly dominated the Sangiovese which is not a surprise. — 19 days ago

Deep ruby color. Aromas of kirsch, licorice, hint of coffee on the nose. Palate of sweet berries that evolves into a medium finish with chewy tannins. — 7 days ago

12% abv. Apparently, Waldo changed his outfit and of all the places he visited over the years, settled on Castellarano in Emilia-Romagna to retire — and became a winemaker. And he’s not bad ! — 11 days ago

Il Roccolo

Cinciallegra S.L. Garganega Trebbiano

Dear Diary,
Today I crushed a fantastic son of a bitch wine. Good god was this exact wine for any moment ever. My friends at the driving range didn't like it, but maybe it doesn't go well with white claws, but we still crushed some balls too.

Marchesi Antinori

Tenuta Guado al Tasso Il Bruciato Bolgheri Super Tuscan Blend 2018

A blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot and Syrah. Deep Ruby with aromas of black and red fruits and floral spice aromas. On the palate black cherry and blackberry flavors with licorice, espresso and sweet oak spice. Smooth and refined tannins, long ending with fruit and sweet earthy tones. Consistent quality and good value. Had 2 bottles in the last month, they are great. — 6 days ago

Paul Lato

"Il Padrino" Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah 2011

We had this right after the 2018 Strawberry Hills grenache. It was very good, but we thought the grenache was much better. Not sure if our palates were saturated, if the wine is in a bit of a dumb phase, or if it’s on the downslope, but this didn’t have the depth that I was expecting from this one. Still a terrific wine, though, so the streak continues of me never having a wine from Paul Lato that I have not enjoyed! — a day ago

Tenuta di Carleone

Il Guerico Toscana Sangiovese 2017

Revisiting one of last years true revelations the 2017 Tenuta di Carleone Il Guercio, which at my very first encounter became a new favourit.
Sangiovese in its purest of forms, so vivid, so transparent yet so unique.
A highly defined nose of crushed, fresh but ripe red berries, followed by lavender and a perfumed incense character over a pronounced gravely carpet. Stunning texture on the palate with superfine but ever present tannins and a piercing acidity that carries the fruit through a long finish. A mesmerizing wine where there is a high change of getting lost in the glass. Paired with braised pork shoulder and tomato jus.
