2015 vintage. Syrah and 5 % Viognier co-ferment. David and Cynthia still owned Laughing Stock then.
Deep purple and shiny.
Rich blackberry/blueberry with smokey bacon on the nose.
Wow, This wine is very silky. Spicy with black currant, blackberry, pepper, underbrush and meaty flavours. Smooth well integrated tannins with medium acidity and a gentle, sweet pinch on the finish. Okanagan Valley Syrah is a hidden treasure . Lamb is fantastic with this. — 6 years ago
Color of light purple with some yellow shades on the rim. Nose of berries, wet mushroom, violet, and hint of spice. Taste of sweet berry, zesty and bittersweet zesty peel, some cinnamon, hint of woody nature, and hidden acidity note. Aftertaste of prolonged bittersweetness. Flavors are a bit light, but definitely on par. — 8 years ago
The best of both styles, stout with chocolate and vanilla, creamy and rich, but with that hop IPA, and yes this is first a IPA, double IPA, but this is more than the standard Black IPA, because it is a real IPA, not just the typical roasted notes, it is the very hints of a stout, but not over done, the IPA is front and center, just perfect for the style Mocha IPA, Wonderful, one beer that should be sipped and experience the complexity in the harmonious mix of styles, I would give it 10, except the AVB is not very hidden — 10 years ago
Pretty impressive beer. Holds its booze in check, but not hidden. — 11 years ago
“Sipping Fine Wines” comments exactly mirror my own. It went well with the chicken pesto risotto we paired it with.
Enough said. This one is a great value, a hidden gem and a definite rebuy. $20 at Sprouts. #redwine #redblends #californianwine — 3 years ago
Color of purple with a bit cloudy copper tone on the rim, decent legs. Nose of dried strawberry and aldehyde, spicy, ripe grapes, a bit leather, vanilla, and oily pat. Nose is quite nice. Taste is mellow, almost no tannins with refined dark fruits sweetness, quite silky with hidden bittersweet zest. Aftertaste is medium with more vanilla and zest notes. Smooth one. — 5 years ago
Dry, light, nice merlot! — 6 years ago
Enjoyed post-game at Prairie Canary in Grinnell, Iowa (also at Lower Falls Wine Co., Wellelsey-Newton line) — 10 years ago
Another new release from Hardy. Vinous lists it as Red… but it’s 76% old vine skin fermented Semillon and 24% old vine Chenin Blanc. Powerful stuff here! The wine is round, almost viscous and honeyed, but bone dry. Notes of pineapple, ripe pear juice, and Unfiltered cider. The wine elevates from the glass as it warms…and snuggles into all those hidden places in your mouth. Simply perfect with complex Indian vegetarian dishes like Chana Marsala and Dal. Very pleased with all of Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah’s releases… — 5 years ago
12.4%. Apply nose. Enfield’s whites are fantastic and this is no exception. A Napa Chard at this % level😱. Just 780 bottles made. A great wine. Needs to settle. Give it 5 years. There is a hidden power in this one. Meyer lemon, white peach, camomile, herbs. Quite closed. A brilliant Cali Card. A winemaker to watch getting better every year. — 5 years ago
One of TJ’s hidden gems. Recommended by a co-worker. Love it. Strong jammy flavor. Good after notes. Smooth finish. Will buy again. — 7 years ago
This is truly exceptional Niagara Chardonnay. Flowing and flavorful, broad and gratifying - there’s a high deliciousness factor without losing precision purity. River rocks and red apples. Paired with the exceptional Niagara Gold from Upper Canada Cheese Co. Both the winery and dairy are owned by the Thiel family. #i4c18 — 8 years ago

Angeleno Wine Company – White Field Blend 2019
Sierra Pelona Valley, California, USA 🇺🇸
Overview
A truly unique white field blend made of 35% Modelo, 35% Loureiro, and 30% Treixadura—all Iberian-origin grapes grown in the high-desert terroir of Los Angeles County’s Sierra Pelona Valley. Angeleno Wine Company specializes in rare plantings and unusual blends, making this wine both distinctive and a conversation starter.
Aromas & Flavors
Fresh and fragrant, with notes of citrus blossom, pear, green apple, quince, and subtle stone fruit, accented by herbal and mineral undertones. Loureiro and Treixadura bring floral lift and aromatic complexity, while Modelo (native to Spain) adds body and texture.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with brisk acidity, a touch of salinity, and a rounded finish. Clean, refreshing, and balanced, with enough texture to give it character beyond a simple “porch-pounder.”
Winemaking Notes
Hand-harvested and co-fermented to reflect the authentic field blend tradition. Fermentation in stainless steel preserves freshness, while sur lie aging adds weight and mouth-coating texture.
Food Pairing
Excellent with ceviche, grilled shrimp, sushi, tapas, or even Mediterranean mezze. A versatile white that shines with seafood and bright vegetarian dishes.
Verdict
A rare and exciting expression of Los Angeles terroir. Complex yet approachable, this wine highlights Angeleno’s adventurous spirit and celebrates unusual grapes in California winemaking. A hidden gem worth seeking out. — a year ago
