Famille Hebinger Vignerons a Eguisheim

Wintzenheim S45-164 2017

Impressive Pinot Noir from a plot in the Hengst Grand Cru in Wintzenheim (Alsace appellation rules don’t permit Pinot Noir here, so it can’t be labeled as Grand Cru). Delicate, Burgundian nose, red fruit, some spices. Light, balanced, elegant, good acidity. Delicious. Positively impressed by all the wines I’ve had from this domaine. — a year ago

Famille Hebinger Vignerons a Eguisheim

Alsace Grand Cru Hengst Riesling 2018

Riesling from the Hengst grand cru in Wintzenheim, about 5 miles west of Colmar. Biodynamically farmed vineyards. Lean, precise, elegant with citrus, flowers and hints of rubber on the nose. On the palate there is some grapefruit. Powerful, dry, mineral. Nice saline aftertaste. — 3 years ago

I love this estate! Biodynamic. Great wines with tons of character.

@Tom Casagrande, agree 100% — I’ve visited twice, once soon after the tragic accident where the husband passed, and then again in 2019 when we bought this bottle and dragged it home. The family is incredibly nice and welcoming, I struggle to understand why their wines are not widely available in the U.S.

Hengst Tokay Pinot Gris

Deep amber color with strong notes of stone fruit and honey to the nose and palate. Silky and rich on the way down with a long finish. This was a fabulous wine — 3 years ago

Clos Sand Alsace Riesling 2019

Vintage 2019 | very typical Riesling with so much acidity I raised my eyebrows, but it came all together with a codfish on a risotto of potatoes | at La Taverne Alsacienne in Ingersheim — 3 years ago
