While very good, this one needs another 8 plus yrs.
Soft subtle nose. Dark cassis, blackberries, both plums, powdery, soft earth tones, moist clay, dark, chocolate, dry herbs & brilliant floral’s.
Soft, round body. Blackberries, black raspberries, plums, very dark cherries, it’s elegant, smooth, very soft tannins, dark chocolate, soft but pointed spice, volcanics, dry stems, violets, lavender, dark
florals, brilliant acidity, elegant with soft tension, great length with a 90 second finish that lands on minerals and beautiful spice.
If there is one thing I learned tasting 6 Harlan’s is Bob Levy is one of the very best, if not thee best at managing Cabernet/Bordeaux blend tannins.

Opened just prior to dinner. The 2007 pours a dark ruby/garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining and loads of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of BBQ Lay’s potato chips (fight me), prunes, dried brambles, leather, organic earth and mixed spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. It doesn’t taste like BBQ Lay’s but the fruit is definitely more of the dried/desiccated side. The finish is medium. Drink now. — 5 months ago

The wine opened up quite a bit after decanting for an hour or so. Great tawny color, notes of sour cherry and raisins, long aftertaste. Will integrated tannins. An awesome bottle! — 9 months ago
Love it! Juicy AF. Minerally. Good with spicy shakshouka. I'd keep a bottle of this on hand all the time. — 3 years ago

v19. Outstanding!!!. Golden amber color. Bold, saline, tropical fruit and toast nose. Fresh, creamy tropical fruit with hints of lime zest. Luscious soft oak finish. So good! — 6 days ago
Delicate, a kiss of sweetness with an herbal note. Minerality, of the warm earth, a beauty and elegance, still very much alive. Texturally and structurally beautiful. For this vintage, he hit it out of the park! — 6 months ago

Falesco – Est! Est! Est!!! di Montefiascone “Le Pòggere” 2024
Montefiascone, Lazio, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
A historic and legendary white from Lazio, crafted under the DOP classification. This blend, traditionally based on Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia Bianca, and Rosetto, carries a legacy dating back to the year 1100, when a bishop’s servant famously marked tavern doors with “Est!” (meaning “it is”) to signal the best local wine.
Aromas & Flavors
On the nose, it is floral and fruity, with notes of green apple, citrus zest, white peach, and wildflowers, underscored by light herbal nuances. The palate is refreshing and crisp, showcasing lemon peel, green melon, and delicate almond on the finish.
Mouthfeel
Light-bodied and zesty with a clean, mineral-driven structure. The bright acidity keeps it lively, while the subtle almond bitterness on the back end adds character and balance.
Winemaking Notes
Produced by Falesco (Famiglia Cotarella), one of the most respected wineries in Lazio. Stainless steel fermentation preserves purity, freshness, and aromatics, aligning with the classic style that has kept this DOC wine a regional staple for centuries.
Food Pairing
Perfect alongside grilled white fish, spaghetti alle vongole, light risotto, or fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and basil. Its crispness also makes it a great match for fried seafood or vegetable antipasti.
Verdict
A heritage-driven everyday white with historical charm and simple elegance. Casual, refreshing, and wallet-friendly, it’s a staple summer sipper with a story worth retelling at the table. — 10 months ago
A moderately expressive nose in the beginning as the wine was too cold but then opens up more with white orchard fruit, pears, some floral scents and a touch of mint. The palate is amazing, complete, so well balanced, fine, elegant, classy and with just good backbone and tension without being too crisp, great length and delicious finish. — 5 years ago

Two things were true tasting this 2022, it wasn’t their best bottling & it was no near ready to drink. Hard to tell which is more true. Maybe, it improves in time?
2022 Napa Cabernet’s more than less boil down to when did you harvest, before or after the 10 days of intense heat during the harvest window. #
