Valentine's Day dinner with my Bahama mama at The Landing; a 200-year-old estate in Harbour Island's downtown. Originally the home of the island's first doctor, the colonial-style building served as Customs House and then a private club. It was built when Harbour Island was a ship building center. With the help of supermodel India Hicks, The Landing has been transformed into a charming 12-room boutique hotel with one of the hottest restaurants in town. — 2 years ago
Overlooking Nantucket Harbour - couldn’t ask for a better sunset — 2 years ago
Honeysuckle. Chamomile. Very Grand Cru Chablis like. Super light on the palate. It was a little too subtle for me at first, but I’ve come around - this is a pretty great white Burgundy. — 2 years ago
Possibly the best white wine I’ve ever had. — 2 years ago
Should be too early. It’s not. This wine is insane right now, ridiculously well balanced; it will probably get better but I doubt it’s a 30 year wine. — 2 years ago
Mid to deep crimson in colour. Aromas of red berries, a little oak, a bunchie stalky note, spices including nutmeg and a dash of chocolate. Medium plus bodied quite northern Rhone in style more than SA. Not dissimilar to another excellent North Island Syrah as in Trinity Hill, Hawkes Bay. Very good, very tasty. From the unlikely destination of Waiheke Island which is in the middle of Auckland Harbour, which is massive in area compared to Sydney Harbour. One would think the rainfall might be a little high for quality viticulture but not so. Also when you think that one of the best new world Chardonnays in Kumeu River is made just to the north of Auckland. — 2 years ago
