At a Mendocino wedding stumbled on this tasting room a few years back. Brought this home and last night, well, WOW. More of a Grenache gestalt than Syrah after 90 minute decant, pure and layered red bright berry, some bay leaf. Wish I had another bottle to see how this ages. — 4 years ago
Tasting wine is a whole lot like a blind person feeling your face for far too long to "see" what you look like. Feeling this wine with my tongue and cheeks, I at first perceived a gestalt of dried sage, shy green olives, withered twig, a satchel of dehydrated and tart, unripe cherries, moon-harvested autumn cranberry, expired Craisins and straw.
Then, as I bore past the nose circa 45 minutes later, I felt up a minerality of sun-baked slate and parched potting soil (not wet potting soil)
And... just before the cops arrived, I copped another feel about 2 hours later and I beheld more of a wizened menthol and eucalyptus on this, the 2001 clos du val.
The cork broke several times before the very bottom of it ahso very gently came out intact. Phew! — 6 years ago
Almost 3 years ago, I was looking at the bottle of Fistful of Flowers and considered buying it. I was hesitant. Not least because of excessive sediment flocks swimming in the bottle. And once I decided to give it a try, it was already out of stock.
Today I completed my gestalt with a different vintage. And actually, I am glad that I tasted 2020 because even Fistful of Flowers needs some time to settle down and become more cohesive.
Interesting blend of Vermentino and Moscato Giallo. The aroma like butterflies bursts from the glass and fills the room with its gifts. Field flowers, honey, ripe peach, cinnamon, cardamon, candied orange peel. All that with a nice musk touch that is more prevalent in the aftertaste. It is well-balanced, fresh and flavourful. My favourite part is the salty-musky finish. Overall, it’s definitely good. Maybe it’s a little bit too bright or even vulgar, but it has some charm.

This Flacc is OTT. Bordeaux gestalt with a nose of Tuscany. Whiffs of thyme and sage, so many secondary aromatics over cedar and old, dry earth. Smooth as silk, brick-edged and tasting of red clay and old cherrywood. Needed only 20 mins in decanter to open wide. Drink up. — 5 years ago
So beautiful and clear in its purpose, titillating on the nose and fulfilling its promises beyond. Balanced and velvety dark red fruit, hints of black tea and cassis but all in a more Old than New World Gestalt. Lots of secondary stuff emerging you just want to sip it slowly. If anybody wonders how well these age, track one down, it’s so worth it. Kudos @Cathy Corison for making this distinctive and enduring bottle! — 6 years ago
Bergecrac (note the extra “C” - cute, no?) Blanc is indeed snappy; per Wayward, “Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Sémillon, Chenin Blanc.” A bit of RS to my palate; there a lot going on in the glass, not a typical blend but not some kitchen-sink mess, this is interesting enough to taste on its own and also good food wine. I can’t pull out Sauv Blanc notes but I can find Chenin Blanc - the gestalt is more than the sum of its parts. — 3 years ago
This is a well aged and a very interesting Pinot Noir from @brittanvineyards 🍷 A 2011 Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon. The wine shows aromas of strawberries, plum, cherry and some smoked and vanilla notes.
In the palate you can taste tart red fruit flavors. It is well balanced and it almost has some minerality to it. A recommended bottle!

What can you say about a wine like this? I don't think there's any arguing that if nothing else it constitutes an incredible feat of engineering and basic human ingenuity. Dry extract is absolutely off the charts; fruit is borderline jammy but somehow still vibrant and succulent; and the structure is at once dense enough to cause a mild histamine reaction (not a frequent occurence for me) yet utterly silken in texture. It's incredible. Truly incredible. But frankly, nothing about this wine tastes like it came from this earth. Every sensory element of its overall gestalt is so exaggerated in scale as to seem utterly unnatural. It's cyborg wine. It performs all the tasks we expect of wine better than any natural wine ever could and yet there's no beauty to it. I'm scoring this highly because as a winemaker and vineyard manager I can only begin to conceive of the astronomical sums and herculean effort involved in producing such a monument to oenological wizardry. But when it comes to wine, all the money in the world can't buy a soul. — 6 years ago

26 degree brewing in Pompano Beach, FL. Oktoberfest Marzen Lager.
Auburn amber, hibiscus tea colored marzen with a red-cream head and sharks tooth lacing. Honey-pecan nose also shows molasses and a hint of maple with a bitterness backstory verging on brown bread or coffee rye. Rich palate shows coffee and Brazil-nut, dark roasted almond, root beer, cream soda and chicory. This Marzen brings all the adumbrated beer hall’s charm and rustic gestalt. Thoughtful and authentic.
