Bravo to @Cathy Corison for this beauty! A lovely expression of aged Napa Cabernet, full of herbal and dark fruit flavors, and most remarkable for the velvety texture balanced by refreshing acidity.

So beautiful and clear in its purpose, titillating on the nose and fulfilling its promises beyond. Balanced and velvety dark red fruit, hints of black tea and cassis but all in a more Old than New World Gestalt. Lots of secondary stuff emerging you just want to sip it slowly. If anybody wonders how well these age, track one down, it’s so worth it. Kudos @Cathy Corison for making this distinctive and enduring bottle!

The recipe for greatness in this bottle, equal parts:
• Rutherford's stony, alluvial soil
• Cathy's sage-like light touch in the winery
• The patience for tannin, fruit & mineral characters to become perfectly in sync dance partners
• The generosity of friends to share
• Outstanding drinking companions

Cathy Corison's 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet dried cherry, mint, licorice, spice, tobacco and dried herbs are all signatures of a wine that has reached its plateau of maturity. There is more than enough freshness to ensure at least another handful of years of fine drinking, but I would not push my luck on aging. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2023)
