Wow, an absolutely glorious btl of wine. On the.nose: soft cola, blueberry, wild strawberry, a hint of young coconut, fantastic spice, freshly cut savory herbs...stunning nose. On the palate: fantastic acidity, crushed herbs, wild strawberry, crushed seeds, spice...soft tannin on the fantastically elegant finish. Young, but so much complexity and elegance. So good. Freakish in the right way. Nose of herbs, keuper, minerals and more. A bit closed but it’s also a bit cold. Palate is just killing it. Juicy and clean with awesome texture and density. Sapid and almost tannic on the finish. So much going on. Insane inner mouth aromas. Really elegant. Unreal length. Just a rock star. Will be back once nose opens up. Unreal complexity and finish. Gorgeous. Nose is wide open now after around 10 minutes. Stunning. Lanolin, herbs and lemon lime. Expansive and so much depth. So good. — 2 months ago

What a nose. Huge minerals, herbs, vanilla extract, flowers. Really herbal and perfumed. Also some sort of tree bark and tonic aromas. Huge intense palate with that 21 edge. Salty, crunchy and intense. Long and pure. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Concentration. So juicy and long. Elegant. So pure. Refreshing. Salty. So so long. The finish is so good. — 4 years ago

Medium light garnet , wide garnet rim . Quite open from the off , red cherry , rose , red currant , raspberry , a touch of smoky oak, after a while a little deeper fruit . On the palate this has quite sweet strawberry , raspberry , red currant but with good acidity , rounded on the palate but with quite gritty tannins , with saline hints on the spiced cherry tinged finish . This is still pretty young and needs a little more time , maybe 2-4 more years , and will last a further 5-8. — 9 months ago

A stunning showing and 16 might be the best vintage ever at Walter. Nose is late season cherries, some framing oak, spice, tobacco, stunning minerality and just endless depth. So floral and complex. I could smell this all day. Smells like elite NSG right now. Palate is just amazing. Ridiculous dark cherry fruit that is so crunchy, fresh and concentrated. Wow this is so precise and succulent. Insane balance and hidden power. What depth and length. Amazing stuff in that it’s so silky and juicy and sweet and the oak is already so well integrated on the palate. This has sexy, velvety tannins and an amazingly long finish. 9.5 now but this will go higher. — 3 years ago
