Passion fruit and lemon. Mildly acidic with a hint of oak. — 4 years ago
Dense black plum and cherry fruit aromas that took time to appear. Initially, the nose was dominated by the scent of rubber tires. Same dark fruit flavors but they seemed a bit muted and flat. Juicy acidity comes through on the finish. Might be a bit past its prime. — 5 years ago
— 7 years ago
Firm cinsault with strawberry and foral nose. Good tannins to make it a good cinsault. — 8 years ago
Cherry liqueur, dried blackberries, black currants, bay leaf, dried oregano, white pepper, creme yvette. Fresh acidity, medium bodied, satin texture, mild smooth velvet tannins, herbal-smoky-slightly foral/fruity finish. Great fruit/herbal balance, aromatics evolved in glass. Decanting recommended for this producer. I’m drinking this too young, still really enjoyable, has the structure to be phenomenal, cellaring will be rewarded. — 9 years ago
On the nose; perfumed, floral, spiced fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, strawberries, raspberries & hues of blue fruits. Dark, rich soils, anise and dark fresh foral bouquet. The body is M and the tannins M+. Spices flow before the wine reveals the ripe, fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, strawberries and hues of blueberries. Loads of dark spices, dark chocolate, mocha powder, crushed rocks, dry stones, loamy soils, leather, dry brush and bright violets. The acidity is nice and the balanced finish is long, elegant and turns slightly dry on the very backend. Photos of; their signage as you approach, David March (Winemaker), a feather with hand painted artwork of their bottle in great detail and the pond on the front grounds. Producer history and notes...Garrison Creek Cellars is a project of Walla Walla natives Michael Murr and his childhood friend Dave March. While Michael Murr lives on the east coast, Dave March is both Winemaker and Winery Manager in Walla Walla. Garrison Creek Cellars has 300 acres situated along the Washington/Oregon border on the fringes of Walla Walla, but on the Washington side. David March (Winemaker) studied nuclear medicine and was a department head at the local hospital before joining the Garrison Creek Cellars partnership. Garrison Creek Cellars is a boutique winery making only about 1000 cases each year. They make; Malbec, Cabernet, Syrah, Tempranillo, Merlot and a little Zinfandel. Some of these are under 100 cases total production. Garrison Creek Cellars sits on the famous Les Collines vineyard. They sell about 97% of the fruit in their vineyard. They choose to keep their wines in small production and are also slow to arrive to market as they will not release anything before it's time...something I respect. When a winery releases their new reds, most are generally not ready to drink. They need to bottle age! Garrison Creek releases their wines when they are a little closer to being ready to drink when they arrive or are picked up. — 9 years ago
13.7% ABV Dark in color, still has foral aromatics, really good! — 2 years ago
More advanced than other 97’s I’ve had. Still grit with flowers. Always get a touch of Cognac from the mid 90’s BV Tapestry’s. Less on the 97. Beautiful, ripe, foral fruits with spice, barrel toast with evolution & integration. Incredible structure, balance. Violets for days. Still has 5-8 years.
This bottle on auction are more advanced than my bottles or others bought at auction. This is just around it’s precipice where other bottles I’ve had required more time. Another 8 years. This is more within 3 years. I would add that a 1997 94 points rating greatly over shadows a young(ish) vintage of the same. Just gets better and better with each sip.
1997 the vintage of our modern times. This wine was about $25 on release, give or take. Today, it drinks like a $100 plus bottle of Napa Cabernet. — 3 years ago
Honestly, I was thinking a red blend from Portugal?! Very skeptic but this blend is actually quite nice. Hints of blue and boysenberry on the nose but on the palate it’s a complex and richer, deeper red taste like blackberries and a bit of rhubarb; slightly acidic. Super cheap but doesn’t taste cheap. — 5 years ago
— 8 years ago
Gorgeous nose of; lightly spiced, foral; ripe candied fruits. Bright floral bouquets of red flowers and violets with just a touch of herbaceousiness.
The body is full. Tannins are thick & meaty. Ripe light and dark red fruits. Brilliant acidity. Round polished finish.
More photos of two foolish field working picking at a much slower pace than the rest of the team and the Truquilemu Vineyard we picked Sunday. — 8 years ago
