Barbera d'Alba 2021

Pretty young but drinks a bit older. Leather and tobacco mixed with bright red cherries and finely chopped dried herbs. Medium body, medium tannins, medium finish. Dried fruit, tart cherry, and rhubarb. All around a really good drink! — a year ago

Pora Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2020

Had this for our anniversary! New fave. Can’t believe I ever thought I didn’t like Italian wine. Full body, tells a story. Slightly tannic. Blackberry, clay pot. Really really good value for a low splurge. — 23 days ago

Rüncot Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

Found this beautiful barolo bottle in napa. On nose its fresh red fruits like strawberries, raspberries, some leather, floral, herbs, ans earthy

On palate, its so intense, long finish, still fresh, the tannins mellowed, i believe this still have 5 more years of cellaring. Delicious wine. Cheers!

Langhe Nebbiolo 2022

Very good, especially at the price (21.99 P&P). Cherry, menthol, clove…big and bold. Soft tannins, long finish. Enjoyed with fresh baked sourdough bread and creamy cauliflower /potato soup (ty Roosters) and Taralli crackers with pesto goat cheese). — 8 months ago

Ollauri Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo 1970

It took me 10 minutes to remove the cork but I was able to extract it largely intact…and it was gnarly. Completely saturated. In fact, it oozed the moment I pierced the cork with the worm. A producer I have no previous experience so no context. The color is garnet/orange with all the sediment and opaque as a result. So much earth, mushrooms, teriyaki, toasted coconut, wood, nuts and leather but there is fruit there too! Desiccated red and dark fruits; deep and dark. There’s tannin, still but it all integrated. The acid is a gorgeous girdle. The finish is long, mature and complex. Drink now? But considering it’s lived this long, it will probably continue to last. For how long? Who knows. A lovely surprise.

A quick CV tasting with Margaret L on her return trip stopover. Excellent example with lively and softish textures and long finish. Opened 10/19/24 dinner with David. Still tasting the same, with Evans pork — 8 months ago
