An excellent Pinot! — 3 months ago
Terrific red wine from the La Clarine Estate vineyard, reminds me a little of Domaine de Trevallon (Cab and Syrah, though here other grapes as well), big and rich still, showing just a tad of mature notes, long, persistent finish, hides its 14.5% ABV well, kudos to Hank!! — 8 months ago
Notes from May 2023 still apply. Voluptuous is the word. No less than 4 Trophies on the Australian Show Circuit from perhaps the most southerly vineyard in Australia in the Huon Valley. Rich, mouth filling and delicious. This is the regular Estate bottling - the Reserve is even more impressive. — 2 months ago
Incredible at 23 years. Held up so well. — 4 months ago
Cracked into a bottle from last visit to Napa. I am such a fan off all the Gamble family wines. Such a smooth bottle with a fantastic oaky finish. Tastes even better once it’s breathed a little. Serve me a bottle of this before I die and I’ll die with a smile on my face. — 8 months ago
Here’s the thing: this is good wine. It’s dense, chewy, and structured. There’s a nice balance of red and black fruit, graphite, cedar, mushroom, soil, and just a touch of Brett funk. It’s fairly tannic, so probably best with food, but can still be enjoyed on its own. I would never be mad if I was offered this. I was lucky to take home an open bottle from a job tonight, but I think the price tag on this is ridiculous. — a year ago
Ridge Zinfandel blends always age well. This was no different. Tasted this blind and no one called Zinfandel. That’s how different they become with this kind of age. That Zinfandel jamminess fades and complexity rises.
Recent pick up at K&L $46.
