Lune d'Argent White Bordeaux Blend 2023

Clos des Lunes “Lune d’Argent” 2023
Bordeaux Blanc, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷

Overview
A classic white Bordeaux blend of 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc. The estate is known for showcasing the nobility of Sémillon in dry form — rare in Bordeaux, where it is often associated with sweet Sauternes. Here, Sémillon brings waxy texture, depth, and honeysuckle complexity, while Sauvignon Blanc adds grassy aromatics and a zesty lift.

Aromas & Flavors
Expressive notes of ripe citrus, white peach, honeysuckle, and subtle herbs, framed by hints of wet stone and fresh-cut grass. The interplay of ripe fruit and grassy vibrancy creates both richness and freshness.

Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with a supple, almost waxy texture from the Sémillon, balanced by Sauvignon’s crisp acidity. Clean, mineral, and refreshing on the finish, with good persistence.

Winemaking Notes
Harvested by hand and vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel with partial maturation on fine lees to preserve both aromatic intensity and structure. This process highlights both varietals’ best traits.

Food Pairing
Perfect with seafood gastronomy — oysters, scallops, grilled prawns, or sea bass. It also pairs beautifully with goat cheese, light poultry, or herbed vegetable dishes.

Verdict
A refined Bordeaux Blanc that balances richness and freshness, showing why Sémillon deserves more attention in dry blends. Stylish, versatile, and perfect for the table.

Les Champs d'Argent Bourgogne Aligoté 2018

Well, I pulled this out of my cellar as I had not had an Aligote in awhile. Quite a surprise and nice wine. A bit shocked by the current prices. I have had this bottle at least 4 years and certainly didn’t pay over $100, so the wine shop must have mispriced the bottle. My lucky day! It has a nice lemon hue with aromas of floral, butter, lemon, and apple. It has a mineral and saline quality with a nutty profile. Nice medium body, slightly creamy, and a long finish. Wishing I had a case in inventory, but it was my only bottle! — 2 months ago

Les Champs d'Argent Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2014

2014 vintage. 9.3 rating on a red Bourgogne...okay? Attractively hot and fleshy initially before the concentrated power onslaught. Medium-heavy body (!?!?) with some slightly above-average terroir/pedigree as I understand it. Might barely qualify (with prejudice) as someone's "Reserve" offering somewhere. Should you come across in a resto or retail setting, take the plunge because you're unlikely to ever see it again. Haven't said that about a Bourgogne in a few days...Rating:9.3/93/A — 10 months ago
