Gorgeous nose. I adore Frühburgunder. Adore it. Unreal classic intense Früh spice. Just penetrating your nose like nothing else. Violets and ripe mid season cherries. Wow. Dead decaying leaves that smell so good. Best decayed leaves you’ll ever smell. I have also smelled many decaying leaves in my lifetime. Amazing nose. Just sick. Palate is ripe and rounder the the Spätburgunder “J” with exquisite fruit and powerful concentration. Huge tiny berry fruit intensity and so so detailed and nimble. Ripe and stoney tannins and unreal persistence. Outrageous and most people would say closed. But it’s all there. My god this is insane. Fresh and so intense. The spice on the nose is at Dune levels after 10 minutes. Perfume of the gods. Amazing inner mouth florals and such painfully intense sweetness. Young and raw but my god there is so much material here and the wine does not quit on the finish. This is a 20 year Frühburgunder.

After air. Wow. Epic spice bomb of the gods nose. Just pure perfume now. Palate is getting melty and more opulent. The precision is unreal on this but still after 25 minutes this seems like it will need 2 hours to open up. I’ll be back. — 7 years ago

On the nose, this Malvasia di Candia blend from Emilia-Romagna smells like driving into Palm Springs from Highway 111 with the windows down—an intoxicating breeze of squishy peaches, lemon, hot asphalt, and freshly watered lawns.
Sipping on “Ageno” tastes similarly warm, with notes of apricot, navel oranges, leather, and sweat you accidentally licked off your own face. It’s bold but with balanced acidity and finishes with sandy tannins that feel just swept off a dune. — 8 years ago

Une bouteille mythique. Dun point de vue technique et puissance c'est un monstre. Un nez très bien en place. Une bouche dune puissance et dune longueur invraisemblable pour un vin de 88. Les tanins sont très bien en place. Une finale mentholee qui donne de la fraîcheur et de la reprise. Le souci est que ce vin manque de fondu et de soyeux pour qu'il soit envoûtant. Spiced tea orange body blooms a smoke stained mane of energy dispensed to dusk dune reflections; then wisps. Orange zested dark breads, a touch of white pepper, grain husks, and bee pollen on the nose. Incredibly weighted in terms of bitter and sweet interplay. Lemon emerges, clove flower, hibiscus tea, orange pekoe, sweet tea, tea biscuit. Delightful.

Nose is blackberry flowers. As it opens garden flowers. Lavender. Lilacs. Pungent dark pink roses.

Palate is fresh juicy fruit. Super vibrant. Really fresh blackberries and medium cherries. Incredibly crisp. There’s this hard to define richness with a hint of balancing bitterness. Crazy elegant laser like juicy delicious spice. Like fresh harvested from dune.

an elegance erupts an hour in. Gorgeous. Drop fucking dead. Just sexy fruit but in a Dior gown.

2 hours in you get this liquid elegant cherry lilac crazy shit. Fuck. This is awesome. Curtaz is just god. He is god. My man crush is fulfilled.

Finish is so crisp. Almost like when you bite into a fresh just picked piece of fruit. You know how it just hits your palate with acid and fruit and you are just like damn that’s perfect. That’s This. A hint of licorice.

Sort of like a super Tuscan for smart people.

9.3 on open. Needs 2 hours to achieve curtazian godlike status.

Un Bourgogne dune finesse incroyable. 1990. On est sur des arômes secondaires et de la vérité bien Kirchee. Tabac cacao en bouche pour un Bourgogne. Et tout cela en dentelle extrêmement fin.
