Don Pino

Concha y Toro

Don Melchor Puente Alto Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Very good wine just not for me, I normally drink a lot of Napa valley wine and French wine. I’m not saying it’s a bad wine I’m just saying I guess I have a profile I enjoy more. I held the wine for 10 years, chilled and decanted for 1 hr, 1.5 hr, and then 2 hrs. I never experienced the normal oak, cigar, leather. You know all the taste profiles the pros mention. I enjoyed it but was still disappointed. I have one more bottle 2015 that I will drink in 2030. Maybe I’ll love it. I drank a younger bottle and really enjoyed it. It was almost overwhelming and hard to finish of course I was in las Vegas at a hotel enjoying the view from my hotel of the Bellagio fountains which made this spectacular both the wine and the view. Which was years ago but a special wine and a memory goes a long way. Especially when you get up in age. — 18 days ago

Dark and oily. Fig and molasses. Earthy flavors with treacle. Coffee and wine. So complex and savory. Gorgeous — 10 months ago

Cantina del Pino

Dolcetto d'Alba 2022

Has a beautiful bouquet on the nose that prevails throughout its surprisingly long finish. Light bodied and a great alternative to some of the more common Italian varietals. — 3 years ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Tenuta delle Terre Nere

Prephylloxera La Vigna di Don Peppino Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese Nerello Cappuccio 2021

Etna: Poured into a decanter about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2021 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and some fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with Bing cherry, Asian five spice, porchini, oregano, crushed gravel and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Another stunner from this incredible, own-rooted parcel in the Calderara Sottana contrada featuring vines over 140 years old. Insane. Drink now with some air and through 2041. — 21 days ago

Reserva Especial Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Stewed and baked fruit, charred wood, vanilla on the finish. Bordering on overripe and the oaks a bit much for my taste, but the acid/tannin structure keeps this enjoyable. — 5 years ago

Cantina del Pino

Ovello Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

A m a z I n g. Fine furry tannins straight away so we decanted. One hour later this was singing. The nose was so pretty with cacao powder, faint sweet tarragon, and strawberries. Mouth coating raspberry fruit roll ups, smooth tannins makes this beautiful. TBL — 5 years ago

@Peter van den Besselaar, the label says 1987, your note says 1986, and Delectable says it’s 2000 — hmmm, Who’s on First?

@Doug Powers Thx. The label! I don’t know why Delectable describes 2000, tried to change the identified wine but that does not work.
