This 2020 Sancerre Chambrates is a ripe and succulent style with floral notes and pure apple and pear fruit flavors. Alcohol warmth (14.5%) detracts from the overall impression and clips the finish; although, the serving temperature was a little higher than ideal when tasted in the Vacheron's cellar. The 2001 Le Clos du Caillou Reserve is probably the most thrilling effort made by the late Jean-Denis Vacheron. Deep garnet in color, the wine displays intense aromas of dried provence herbs, iodine, dried strawberries, red cherries and plums, blackberry liquor, leather, forrest floor and a dash of white pepper. Full-bodied, the palate is almost overwhelmed by insane levels of fruit concentration and elevated alcohol, but there is just enough acidity to keep everything in balance. The long lasting, persistent finish confirms a wine of outstanding quality. Drink now until 2030. — a month ago
Les Romains is a vineyard with its feet in flint to the east of the fault line in Sancerre. The 2020 Sancerre Les Romains begins with a fruity and open welcome, blossoming and silken in the mouth before tying the wine up; the flint influence acts like the belt on a pair of trousers tightening up the middle and leaving a sensation of sinew and length with a fine nettley fragrance. As good as it gets from Sancerre. Wet rock, grapefruit, med + acidity. — 7 months ago

Purchased wine during visit to winery in 2013. Terroir of the vineyard site is flint, limestone and clay, and the yields are low. Peach, grapefruit, flinty minerality and saline. Elegant and polished wine with body and depth. Beautifully balanced Sancerre which aged nicely. — 2 months ago
Thought it was AA Vacheron, but from JR, a really nice balanced complex rose, as per the ‘13. Who said rose can’t age? — 5 months ago
