Coq Léon Beaujolais Gamay

Blackberry with some hints of star anise and tea leaves. Medium tannins and medium structure. Decent acidity. Would pair well with some barbeque or something a bit fuller in flavor. — 2 months ago

Zinnkoepflé Alsace Grand Cru Gewürztraminer

Gewurztraminer from the Zinnkoepflé Grand Cru - known for producing exceptional, very aromatic Gewurztraminer. Located above the villages of Soultzmatt and Westhalten (west of Colmar), the Zinnkoepflé takes its name from “Sonne Koepflé” - the local name given to small circular marine fossils found in its
predominantly sandstone-limestone soils (some examples on display at the winery). Fragrant, round, smooth.

Luss Alsace Pinot Noir

Excellent Alsace Pinot Noir, reminiscent of a good Burgundy, sourced from a single plot in Orschwihr, near the Pfingstberg Grand Cru. Whole cluster fermentation. Aged in used oak barriques for one year and bottled unfiltered. Quite expressive nose. Red fruit, strawberry jam, gunpowder, some floral (violets) and oaky notes. Richer, more complex and more serious than their entry-level Les Jardins. — 4 months ago

Drank 11/5/21.

Presently I am dealing with sneezing and nasal congestion from a cold my youngest gifted me. I am not able to properly provide tasting notes, but can assess the the nose includes the traditional tar and roses, and the palate seems well balanced. Tannins seem integrated as well. I'm guessing that this would be somewhere between an 89-92 so we will call it 91.

Daniel Ramos Castillay y Léon Rosé Blend 2018

This is quite a strange wine, but I’m kinda into it; deep persimmon color; pronounced intensity aromas of OAK!!!, vanilla, dill, coconut cake, pineapple upside down cake, maraschino cherries; ; dry, medium acid, medium tannins, high alcohol, full body, pronounced intensity flavors consistent with aromas; sweet sensation on the palate, looooong finish, nothing subtle about this wine, decadent — 4 months ago
