Sh-t. I mean. This starts inconspicuous but becomes more energetic with each day open. Coiled acid and melting taffy. Aching red fruit; dripping, swirling mineral dust. Subtly sweet, then unexpectedly dry, with a powdery texture. Worthy parallel to eg bandol rose, but even more acid. — 10 months ago

@Ira Schwartz, these are honestly great wines that were low-to-mid $20s in those days, which is laughable now but seemed $$$ in those days with all the Languedoc stuff in this days in the $10-15 range. But, other than Peyre-Rose (Madame Soria, IIRC), amazing wines that were a little cheaper, d’Aigueliere single cuvees were the gold standard!!

Inky in color with a short brick rim.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.
Showing black currants, cooked plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, herbs, spices, vegetables, black tea, tar, light earth and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 15 year old Washington Syrah is drinking very nicely now. In your face kind of wine. Bold, extracted and definitely delicious.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime.

Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years.
100% Syrah grapes from Red Mountain were aged in (50% new) French oak barrels for 12 months.
