The nose bursts with ripe yellow peach, mandarin, and dried pineapple, layered with brioche and a hint of white flowers. The palate is plush yet electric, with creamy texture quickly cut by vibrant lemon zest and a light salinity. The finish is precise and long. — 4 days ago

Deep gold in color.

Strong nose and full bodied with medium plus acidity and tiny bubbles.

Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing yellow apples, ripe citrus fruits, spices, sea salt, herbs, minerals, yeast, earth and light brioche.

Long finish with limes and light almonds.

This is a delicious 22 year old Champagne. Rich and fruit forward. Well balanced, complex and entertaining.

Drinking beautifully now, and much better after 90 minutes of airtime. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years, and better when not too cold.

Loved how the bubbles integrated with the wine. Vibrant and engaging.

Wine Spectator 97 points. Wine Advocate 95 points.

I've had this vintage a few times before, and it is very consistent.

A great sipping wine that also paired nicely with food.

A blend of 62% Pinot Noir and 38% Chardonnay. Aged for 15 years on its lees.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

Curious if it needed some time to open up. The 1990 Bolly Rosé Grand Année I had last year needed to decant for about 30min and then it was bangin.

Du Cropio (Giuseppe Ippolito)

Dom Giuvà Du Cropio Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Gaglioppo 2013

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2013 pours a deep garnet with an opaque core and a rusty brown rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and significant sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with desiccated dark fruit, salmiakki, leather, espresso, and a Maillard reaction thing. On the palate, the wine is dry it’s high tannin and medium acid at best…probably medium-. The finish is medium. Drink now. — 4 months ago

Certainly a very good vintage. Just never overly embraced Dom. But this is nice, beautiful in fact.

The entry is soft & even subtle. Lemon pulp, lime pulp w/ some zest, orange citrus blend, just ripe pineapple flesh, mango, green tropical melon, under ripe cantaloupe, whipped cream, soft/light white spice, sea spray, excellent, crumbled to powdery, dry chalkiness, lightly yeasty, bread dough to baguette crust, grey volcanics, limestone, hints of fresh & dry herbs, yellow lilies, spring flower & jasmine, excellent, soft acidity with a well balanced, gentle structure & tensioned, superbly elegant & smartly polished finish that lasts 90 seconds and land on fruit and gentle volcanics.

I’m fortunate to have found rare deals at charity events and I have 2000, 2002,2004 and now 2006. And the latter 2006 is the hands down winner of the lot. Crispy fresh, lemon zest with hint of brioche. It is a wow! — 4 months ago
