Deceptively high alcohol level, very smooth wine, perfect for a group of friends — 5 months ago
This wine is medium-dark in the glass. The nose is rich with raspberry and blueberry aromas, while the palate shows dark fruit as well. There is a touch of oak, but it is not at all overdone. The tannins are somewhat fierce upon opening, so let it breathe a bit. The acidity is mouth-watering and the finish is lengthy. Taboadella begs for a thick, juicy steak. — 10 months ago
Has a salty chalky vegetal, bitter, yet yellow fruity thing going on - all over the place. But it calms down with air and food. This isn’t a sipping wine. Paired very well with fish and chips. / edit : I liked this considerably more on day two, more harmonious and complete. Pair with schwarma-spiced grilled chicken thighs and Mediterranean feeeixins. — a month ago
Exceptional complexion, delicate mix of dark fruit spice and umami — 7 months ago
Very tasty aged Portuguese red. If I had it blind, I would guess Northern Spanish - Ribera del Duero or Rioja. Smooth and slightly musty/earthy from the age (got some cork crumbles). Opens pretty quickly, with concentrated red fruit and some blackberry. Pleasant tannic grip with a soft texture. Bold flavor throughout, big body (14.5% abv), some pepper and dry grass on a savory finish. Nice for a reasonable price. — a year ago
Very fresh nose - green vines and fresh air, a bit of acetone. Red fruit, nice but not terribly complex. — 5 months ago
I would like more acidity, but fantastic either way... Not too fruity — 10 months ago
Had this at chef Avillez’s Bairro in Lisbon’s Chiado neighborhood. First time trying a Dao DOC wine, and it was splendid. Medium bodied, dark fruit and peppery. A nice contrast to the lighter vino verde’s I’ve had a lot of in Portugal. A bottle of this in front of me would be dangerous. — 3 years ago
