Opened within an hour of delivery, not my usual custom, but I needed to be sure it survived the journey. It was fine, but we’ll hold the rest for a bit. There’s plenty of life there. — 5 years ago
Ordered in a custom box from wine insiders, and it was fantastic! Smooth, flavorful and well balanced. — 5 years ago
2013 vintage. Pretty much identical to @Shay A's beyond excellent notes on this wine from 03.31.23. This was from an infuriatingly custom 5L bottle tho. Super-youthful. From this format? An easy 15-20 years of life. From a standard 750ml format? 12-15 years of great drinking. Right in line with Central Coast red Rhône blend/varietals usual ABV%. That is, to say, not exactly bashful. 12.06.24. — 5 months ago
Don’t love this SlB….super earthy, you get it on the nose and even more so on the palate….paired it with roast chicken per custom and it didn’t really help…very “village” — 2 years ago
Perhaps, our favorite non Burgundy white. It is unique among whites.
Also, one of the best afternoons we’ve enjoyed. Appointments at Clos Mogador & Erasmus. Then, lunch looking back at both properties from Amcis. A great meal we would give two Michelin stars. This wine and a custom four course for two for only 70 Euros in 2015. Fantastic restaurant. A must do in Priorat.
The nose reveals; ripe & slightly sour pineapple, lemon chiffon, mix of well extracted stone fruits, notes of lime candy, banana peel, slight burnt brown sugar, blend of chalky minerals, volcanics, chamomile, vanilla bean notes, well cooked toast, sandy dry top soil, fennel (grows everywhere), tree bark with sap, mix of dark & white spice w/ white dominate and a fields of spring flowers.
The body is full & round with good viscosity. slightly sour pineapple, lemon chiffon, mix of well extracted stone fruits, golden apple to cider, tropical melons, kiwi, notes of lime candy, banana peel, fringes of marmalade, slight sugar in the raw, blend of white, chalky minerals, mint, volcanics, crushed dry sandstone, saline, chamomile, vanilla bean notes, well cooked toast, dry herbs, sandy dry top soil, fennel (grows everywhere), tree bark with sap, mix of dark & white spice w/ white dominate and a fields of perfume spring flowers with mixed greens. The acidity is round and rushes like a river. The long, rich, well knitted & balanced, polished & elegant finish goes on & on ending persistently w/ sweet white spice.
The 2017 is different than the earlier vintages we’ve had. It needs another two years in bottle. If you drink now, fully chill and decant 2 hours.

As I grow custom too the aphrodisiac red, I rate the saint Julien as exemplary wine into my cultured journey — 2 years ago
Mind bender from Canary Island - first of all, beautiful bottle with custom flourish on the top opening. This wine is wild, so much saline & minerals, crushed seashells & stones, lemon/lime, dried tea leaves & herbs, some quinine… just so out here. Austere angular, all sharp edges & zesty acidity, and absolutely viciously bone dry. You have to get the food pairing right on this - we didn’t but still a cerebral exercise. — 2 years ago
Ok peeps, many people have asked for more deets regarding our little cellar...
1.8m x 0.6m x 2.25m. The floor is Portuguese black slate (1cm thick). Floor, walls and ceiling are insulated with high-density foam, which has a low thermal conductivity. Chiller is housed remotely. Ducting pulls clean air from outside, and dumps exhaust air outside. Basically, everything is custom - my design, and a great contractor realized our dream. @Mo Salem was instrumental with renovating our home, and the germ of the idea came from him.
This wine big and bold. Visually show its age. Cinnamon, cloves and pepper define the nose and palate. The oak monster is evident on the mid palate. Great tannins and complimentary acidity. This will sail on for another 5 years, but best consumed now. — 5 years ago
Pinotman /// Andreas
Needs a good day to open up. At first quite brutal in an unyielding way. I left this on my custom Argon line for a week. Reviewed this many times before. Absolutely delicious and driven by earth herbs and hint of red fruits. More or less for aficionados only (I don’t want to be condescending here) as so much patience is required. Drink now because i do not expect the fruit to hang on all that long. — 3 months ago
