Rudd Estates Crossroads Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Napa Valley, California
Here is my #FridayCabernetfix for this week.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, black cherries, dried figs, raisins, black pepper, chocolates, cedar, vanilla, tobacco, light alcohol, licorice and spices. Exactly what you would expect from a good quality Napa Cabernet.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, raisins, dried fruits, tobacco, spices, chocolates, cola, cedar, vanilla, espresso, graphite and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and spices.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced and fruit forward, with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Very enjoyable to drink by itself. Still young, but already very tasty. Has great potential to reach 95+ points in 5 to 10 years.
Good by itself or with food. I gave it 90 minutes to open up in a decanter.
I paired it with cheeses, but so yummy and delicious all by itself.
Aged in (46% new) French Oak barrels.
15.1% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

Rich with berries, not bitter and great full body. — 8 years ago
Brazilian steakhouse and a night tour of Stanford 🌲 🏈 . Thanks for the great hospitality Michael & Henrik, look forward to more visits.
Now the wine:
Raspberries, floral notes, toasted oak, light body. Paired well with the filet and skirt steak. The Pelissa vineyard is located on Oakville Crossroads directlybehind the family winery, creating this Estate grown & produced Zinfandel. — 9 years ago

What pairs with a rainy, cold night by the fire? Flora Springs Winery Petit Verdot. Dark and brooding, spicy and plush, this 100% Petit Verdot is from their Crossroads Vineyard in Oakville and their Pope Valley vineyard. It's aged 19 months in seasoned French oak. Only 210 cases made exclusively for sale at the winery. $50. — 10 years ago
Surprisingly peppery with black pepper, violet, and black currants. Rich and bold. — 7 months ago

The crossroads of clean/fresh and fuck you/natural. When it works it works. — 9 years ago
A friend of a friend of my wife asked me try to try this new production Pinot they are making. This is produced & bottled by Pellegrini Bros but is a new Pinot called P:4. Sour mid red fruits, raspberry candy and red florals on the nose. The palate is candied, ripe, juicy; black raspberries, black cherries, strawberries, cherries, cola, soft subtle sweet spices, cinnamon, just a hint of vanilla, limestone, soft crushed brown volcanic minerals, red fresh florals, nice acidity, good mouth presence, good balance and long shinny fruit finish. Drinks well very young. Surpassing my initial expectations. A wine to acquire and a wine to pay close attention going forward. $65 from the winery. It's a crossroads of CA Pinot & Burgundian style with a dominating CA side. 13.8% on the alcohol which is fairly reasonable in today's CA wine environment. — 9 years ago
Very smooth and easy to drink. — a year ago
Rich earthy blackberry and cocoa. Dark and big, almost more like a Cabernet Sauvignon. — 3 years ago
2018 vintage. Precious nose. Medium body. Can’t decide if it wants to finesse/pickpocket things or drop the pizazz bomb since it tries to rock both. Solid juice but I’ve got absolutely zero idea where it ends up in 3 years. 7 years. A decade. Two. A wine at a crossroads early on. Drinking deliciously now tho. — 5 years ago
Delicious - like Christmas cake in a glass! — 9 years ago
Wow, full bodied and mouth coating with a barnyard nose which is typical of a SLH Pinot. Nice long finish. Outstanding wine at this price point. Might convert some Cab folks over from the dark side. Found some at the Crossroads Safeway. — 9 years ago
