Espresso martini where are you??
The Bomba Carta amaros from Silvio Carta are the pinnacle of his production.
He uses in this case 4 different coffee beans from Honduras, El Salvador, Santos and Colombia. He roast them in Sardinia and then creats this amaro without crushing then so that the liquid has no caffeine. The blend is made with a rare bitter stawberry tree honey.

Beautiful Cab Sauv from the Colombia Valley! Dried fruits, plum, tobacco opened the palate and finished with lingering fruits and cassis. The 2013 was a bit more austere than near years, but still very nice! — 3 years ago
Sweet on the nose. Tropical fruits found in Peru and Colombia. Not your typical chard — 5 years ago
Colombia Valley, Old Vines. 4090 cases. Yellow, excellent clarity. Vanilla/floral nose. Lemon, melon and peach flavors, some skin astringency and minerality on finish. Dry to off-dry with tangerine-citrus aftertaste. Easy, even delightful drinking but more acid would seal the deal. Great value, regardless. — 6 years ago
Found a decent one here...
Update... More than decent. This is an excellent Rioja. We are here in Cartagena, Colombia. Wine lists are very short. Everything is almost 4X USA retail. Even Argentinian and Chilean is way over priced. Whatever... I get it. But, tonight is a great example of where it pays to know or research a tad about wine (which is is about what I know).
Here at Sofitel's highly-rated restaurant, I almost settled for Marches de Caceres, Crianza for 225000 Col. Pesos ($78 USD)--this is plentiful and 13 bucks at home.
Then I see this bottle which I've never had for 270000 pesos ($93 USD). Looked up the reviews (cheated a little there) and much better-- and it carries an average US price of $35. So went with it... Surprisingly, he brings out a 2008, no one orders it I guess. Dynamite bottle.
PS For all of the ladies worried about my analytical table manners.... I decided this all in 35 seconds. I'm a statistician. My wife only knew the wine was awesome.

From the Colombia Gorge in WA. Very acidic 11:75%. Petrol, galore, yuzu good match for asian food. Touch oxidized. Quinces? Reminds me of the white sherry like wines from spain. I loved their Pinot 5 years back. Now they have established themselves and get rave reviews. This is not your typical riesling it lacks the Riesling fruit i am used to. — 2 years ago
Brought to us as a gift from Bogota, Colombia (hence the Spanish labeling). First Tuscan Vermentino I’ve had. Pretty dense with lots of apple and pear without being fleshy. Citrus pith. Mineral backbone. No fennel.

Sangiovese Rosé, Colombia Valley. Salmon pink with a cherry red tinge, excellent clarity. Cherry cobbler aroma on nose. Cherry and raspberry Kool Aid flavors. Slightly chalky mineral finish, maybe lactic too, mild skin astringency on finish. Blessedly dry. Acid is all right, body is ok or a touch thin in mouthfeel, a minor issue. Great varietal character. Good value — 6 years ago
